The Goodyears are great, except in the rain.

I never drive this car in the rain, wouldn't be fun anyway. Goodyears are literally HALF the price of Michelin. Unless the treadwear is that much better (I doubt it) I'll stick with them, especially with the way this car devours rubber.
The 2014 Accord V6 is the daily beater. |

On tire rack I see the Goodyears for about 600 less for a set. I'm actually getting a second set for when the ones I have on from the factory wear out...which is pretty soon (one too many burnouts). I think they're better than the Michelin's once they're heated up a little. The Michelin's obviously take the win in the rain, but it's not a big enough concern for me yet even as a daily.

Yes there is a big difference in the hp between a ZL1 and SS. I too came from a 2SS to a ZL1 and you learn after a few miles really how to drive the ZL1. If you stomp on it be prepared to hang on to the steering wheel but it is mild mannered to drive around in city traffic all day long. Like others have said it is a handful to drive in the rain on the GY F1 Supercar tires especially in a downpour but you learn how to modulate the throttle to keep from getting in an accident. I have no regrets about buying a ZL1 and enjoy the drive when I do drive it which is usually 3 times a week. Be advised that if you do buy one, every jerk on the road will want to race you because you are driving a ZL1 especially Mustang, Challenger, Charger and a lot of import owners. Even people in SUVs will try you and Trucks too!

Overall it's interesting to see how people react. Until they see the ZL1 badge it's like "hey it's just a Camaro I can take this guy down", but once they get closer and see the badge I've seen several ricers slow way back down or veer away haha. Removing the badge would make it more of a sleeper, except for the fat tires of course. Truck drivers are hilarious, they need to take a class in power to weight and aerodynamics because they think they're so fast but the laws of physics don't bend. |

Not sure how you guys can say the goodyears are good. They don't hold for shit ,and I live in Florida, and am not shy about the gas pedal either (although I dont really beat her to death at all). Mine only have 4700 miles on them. Theye are hands down the worst tire I've ever had on a car (these are the supercar 3s, not the 3Rs; can't speak to those). I swear, I've had bald ass tires on other cars hold the ground much better lol.
I'm swapping to Michelin PS4S, but 305/30 19 on OEM Z/28 wheels (Tuesday that's going down). Last edited by HoodCheck; 08-01-2020 at 02:23 PM. |

For reference I live in Houston and the past couple months where I've put these miles have been mostly 90+ degree sunny days at about 33psi. I have had another ZL1 owner tell me they don't hook well and his is modded. He has PS4S on his. Maybe I'm just not pushing mine hard enough. |

If there was a like button, I would give you a like for this comment. These new cars are all very easy to control.

Thank you guys for the great feedback! I just can't wait to get rid of AFM! If the 2SS came without AFM for automatics, I would stick with it.
