Exciting news for a lot of people moving away from manuals, especially the older crowd. Overall GM has watered down the 1LE name across all models and its disappointing for sure. I feel they did this to offer more competitive cars for a much wider audience, all while staying in the parts bin they had available.

They claim a few sec's faster on bigger tracks. I'd love to see actual performance numbers. Did they do this to make sure the 1LE was on par or better than the GT500? I guess we have to see as I am sure media outlets will want to review these cars side by side.

I have driven 2 Mustangs with the A10 and have no clue on how anyone can say Fords version is even 'okay'. Compared to the ZL1 A10 the Mustang offering is flat-out terrible.

The more they take driver's skill out of the process, the more boring it will become. Pretty soon people will just be sitting in cars and not driving.

The truth is the more they please us consumers, the better off they are as a whole. I wish they wouldn't gimp one to try and sell the other. But I will take my M6 over the A10 any day.
Go read the official press release from GM. The M6 is slower.

I only buy manual cars because I like to change gears at precisely the time I want them to change, and not because some "purist" ideology. I don't have any hate for any car being made with an automatic option for those that want to let the car shift for them. The more people buying 1LEs the better for us all who love them.

I personally don't like traditional autos because of the delay from when I pull the paddle and when it shifts (including the 10 sp auto). If the SS 1LE had a DCT transmission as good as the GT3's or BMW's then I would've chosen that option, barring a significant weight or price increase (150lb, >$2000).

I’m going to hurt a lot of feelings on roll runs.

What are you comparing to here?

I thought the A10 co-developed with Ford on 18+ Stang and 19+ SS while the ZL1 and now ZL1/ 1LE A10 is different?

Awesome!
Yep. Interesting that 2 weeks after Ford announces the DCT gearbox in the GT500, Chevy throws the A10 into the ZL1 1LE. Can you say "trying to keep up with the competition."

The A10’s are setup differently. Ford just can’t seem to get it right. Chevy got lucky.

GM said the same thing about the A8 Z07 vs the M7. Turned out the M7 was still faster and it took GM engineers fiddling with the A8 car to make it turn a faster lap.

Just thinking out loud here, but what if Chevy came out with a ZL1 "2LE"? Your choice of manual transmission or A10 but equipped with the LT5 motor? Price it around $80K and talk about letting the air out of the upcoming GT500.
