Buying a Camaro from a US dealer as a Canadian

Hi,

I am right now in Toronto, looking at some 2017/2018 Camaros online on the Canadian stocks. There aren’t any with my prefered options and colors so I’m thinking about going to US to get one that I like.

Did someone had experience with that? How do you register the car? Where do you pay the taxes? How do you declare it at the border when coming back to Canada? Do I need to have some sort of US residency? Can I lease / finance in the US with my Canafian bank?

Can someone walk me thru this process?

Thank you!

You’re likely not going to be able to pull this off. Beyond the actual purchase which would cost a fortune given exchange rate, there are also warranty implications.

You would pay taxes on Ontario and the state you buy in. You would not be able to finance or lease in the US because you have no credit history there.

If you’re buying used, you need cash and yes you declare at the border and begin the process to import it. Buying new is very difficult

You've still got some time to order a 2018 I believe ... That's likely your best option if you can't find anything on a lot.
