Procharger belt ?
Need some help figuring out which belt I'll need for the new pulley. D1X has a 4.25 pulley on it at the moment, going to a 3.85. Any idea how much shorter it needs to be?
Thanks for any input. *** |

HP Addicts says I need a gates Gates 465-K080653 for a 4.5 pulley and that specs out to 65.922 inches OD. My 4.0 pulley came with a Napa 25-080645 which has a pitch length of 64.5. Don't ask me what pitch length is, I thought the Napa belt was a little loose and was near the max adjust of the tensioner...

The 08-645 is the stock belt size on the 4.25" pulley, if you look for a Gates belt as the parts store to put a "HD" at the end of the part # for the heavy duty belt that doesn't stretch as much.
You will need a smaller belt for sure. The formula for circumference is 2*Pi*R^2 If the stock pulley is 4.25" (This is the diameter) then the radius is 2.125". The circumference of that pulley is 13.35" which is 339.04mm. The 3.85" pulley has a circumference of 12.1" which is 307.34mm. That is around 32mm smaller in circumference. I would say start with a 25mm smaller belt and go from there. |

Oldman you needed a smaller belt as well for that 4.0" belt.
