Exclamation Just recieved my Magnuson and.....

have a few questions.

So I've read this isntructions literally 6 times from front to beginning prior to me receiving this. I am reading this instructions (which isn't really listed in the initial booklet) about the SCT tuner. Does this seem right when I have to upload my stock ECM information. email it. wait. and have them email the actual tune to me? I'm prepaired to dive right in. Can you kids share your thoughts with this? Also for those of you that have done your own, or helped do it. **in regards to that tune part and the **harmonic balancer, was it to difficult? these two things are my only worry. I plan on starting to rip into it here on Friday.

I didn't install my E-force, but my installer said the Harmonic Balancer was a pain to get off! And they had to try 4 different tunes from Edelbrock to finally get the tune just right.

Yes, send the original file to them as soon as you can. They try to be quick on returning you the calibration, but to eliminate any down time send it to them right away. Just install the SCT software on a PC. Then connect the SCT to the car and read the current file. Once completed, connect the SCT handheld to the PC with the installed SCT software and save the original file to your computer. Then email Magnuson the file with all your information (Name, Vin, Mileage, Etc). Then they will send you a modified file to load into the handheld. All you need to do is reconnect to the car and install. Hopefully you get the file back by the time you are done installing.
And the balancer bolt is extremely tight, that's the hardest part.

Yes, you need to eamil your 'stock file' to Magnuson. They will modify and send it you back. It doesn't take too long if you spend two or three days to install Maggie. If you have 2017 Camaro, it's different story. SCT does not provide proper firmware for 2017's at this time. You may purchase HP Tuner if you or your engineer don't have HPT.
I installed Maggie but I'm waiting for HPT for this trouble..

this is good news! it doesn't seem that bad with the exception of the balancer. How did you end up taking it off? car in gear (mine is manual) and huge pry bar?? I always fear that I start yanking on a tight bold and all the sudden it kicks loose and end up scratching something. I'm going to download the software tonight from my car and start the process. Friday and Sunday of this week is the big install days.

-- did any of you have a check engine light or anything like pinging etc. after the first initial test run?
--what are some pointers I should be looking out for. I know the instructions are relatively clear and good, lots of pics is what I like. hee hee.

Oneredry - could you take lots of pics of your install? I too have read the manual a bunch of times, but the pictures aren't great. Would be awesome if you could document your install with some pics.

I plan on doing a before, during and after pictures. I may not have time to document everything, but I'll do my very best.

Is there a big advantage with the billet harmonic balancer? Who sells them?

Aftermarket balancers are normally required because of SFI requirements (10.99 and faster), but in a supercharged applications they also offer the ability to purchase different size crankshaft pulleys, if desired, to further overdrive the SC.

Innovators west sells the balancer and Metco motorsports makes the pulley rings. I believe ATS makes them too.

I loaded my stock tune yesterday and emailed it. I should get it back on Monday. My install is on Wednesday, weather/road conditions permitting

This seems to have been revised. True or False?

My first SCT step quotes, "If there is a pre-loaded tune for your vehicle in the SCT X4 hand held, skip to Step#41.

From Step #41 it looks like the SCT saves and then "enhances" the original tune.

Thanks
