Odds are against you. I haven't seen anyone post a time at Laguna that looks to be close enough to say they are getting out of the car anything close to what Randy was able to...

Randy is a very, very nice guy. True car enthusiast, Very approachable. I've talked to him at a Lemons race and have seen him around a few other events talking to who ever.

I am surprised he didn't go with the SS 1LE, he raves about that car.

He probably did it just to embarrass the SS, and maybe even ZL1, drivers.

A friend of mine was racing his Cuda up Pikes Peak one year, he was having some handling issues and while he was under the car someone walked up and asked how it was going. Without coming out from under the car, he explained what was going on and the guy gave him tuning ideas. He tried them, they worked. At the end of the event Randy walked up to him and asked if he liked how his adjustments worked for him... he was floored. He got advice from Randy Pobst without even knowing it and won his class because of it.

That's an awesome story!!

He is a real gem to the car enthusiast community, we are blessed to have him and be able to watch him do what few people can.

That's very cool. Congrats Randy.

For anyone who hasn't seen it here is Randy flogging a GEN6 SS 1LE around Laguna Sega:
https://youtu.be/xjKjnbOsSEs

Would like to see him run the car at a little bit of a slower track and see how it's times compare to other cars. Still I remember watch a video of a FGT barely breaking a 1:40 at LS probably 12+ years ago. (This was back in the Streetfire days) everyone was so excited that a 6 figured, 550 BHP, mid-engine supercar could manage a 1:40 at LS. They were claiming that if you can manage a 1:40 at LS then you had an extremely capable machine with a stellar driver. Now a decade later a Camaro SS with 95 less HP will easily best that time with a pro level driver. How things have changed with the handling capabilities of American muscle cars.

Me too...his praises of the SS 1LE were one of the reasons I bought one!

I think there was a longer video too but Motor Trend may have pulled it off of YouTube along with most of their videos.

I thought there was a video of him running a 17 SS 1LE aroumd Willow Springs? I think MT was comparing it to a C7 GS or something. I might be wrong because I sure can't find it.

He did run one around Big Willow. 1:28.xxx. He matched the GT350R time exactly. I've searched for the video but have never found it. The time was mentioned in a MT ZL1 review and I saw it posted on their lap board when they were reviewing another car. Damn it I wanna see that Big Willow lap, get an idea of his speeds in the corners so I can work my way up to them.
