SS with '4-Corner Brembo Red Brake Upgrade (Dealer Installed)'

So what exactly does this $3545.00 option on a 2018 SS really get you? "4-Corner Brembo Red Brake Upgrade (Dealer Installed)"

Do you get the factory original brakes as well in a box in the trunk? I looked at the brakes and they are non-slotted rotors but the calipers are red and do say 'Brembo' on them with what appears to be 6-pot fronts.

You should get slotted two piece rotors and six piston calipers (painted red). And yes, since this is a dealer installed option, you should get the old brakes that they took off your car (the 4 piston brembos) as well. Some dealers "forget" to give you the old equipment, but make sure you get it back.

But, since it is a dealer installed option, you could always get them at a later point in time. The parts are listed on Chevy's website for $3000 for the front and $575 for the rear (the rears are the same but painted red to match).

I'm not 100% sure they replace the rears, but I suspect that they do, because all the 1LE's come with red painted rear ones as well, and that would explain the price too.

BUT, if you get them at a later date, I don't think the price includes installation.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking at a 2SS that has this big option but the rotors are not slotted yet it does have the red calipers on it that say 'Brembo' on all four.

EDIT - upon closer inspection of the pics I took, the rotors ARE slotted. My bad.

Just get them Powder coated. Unless you are tracking the car, you dont need 6 piston Brembo's!

I agree - the CC brakes on my Z are way more braking capability than I would ever DREAM of using. Just nice to have and look at I guess.

Keep in mind the 6-piston Brembo calipers are significanly more money to replace than the standard SS 4-piston. The regular SS rotors are about $79/per, where the 6-piston are $390/per. That's almost $800 just for the front two rotors.

So, unless you NEED them, just paint the standard SS calipers whatever color you want and be done with it. It's not like the 4-pistons suck or something.
