Exterior Body Panel Stress Crack?

I happen to notice what I thought was a deep scratch in the paint in front of the right rear tire, on the lower little panel. When I looked close it was deep and had almost a horseshoe shape.

I walked around to the driver side and there it was. Almost the exact same deep scratch. There are no impact marks on either side and the similar location and shape has me reaching for other possibilities.

Is it possible it is some kind of stress crack. I have a 2017 2SS with the 1LE suspension upgrade including MRC computer flash. All installed by the dealer around 3,000 miles ago. The car only has around 6,500 miles.

I attached 2 pictures from each side, sorry for the quality I was a little freaked. 1 picture from each side has been marked to try and highlight the path of the crack while the other is untouched.

Any ideas what this might be? I'll be taking it back to the dealer but I thought I would share first.

Thank you!

That's the factory protective film (clear bra).

Hell , if that's what it is, I'll wear my dunce hat with a smile. I never noticed it before, obviously. I suppose it makes more sense than a stress crack.

That is also one of the reasons to ask questions on the forum as opposed to the dealership. I would have had to take all the time to drive there and then have them laugh at me because its a protective covering.

Thanks for the heads up! I feel dumber than my pet rock, yet somehow relieved.

I'm just glad you didn't try to rub the "scratch" out!
