OK, it's Official...

...the solid decision has been made to gift my 2013 SS/RS to my granddaughter when she graduates high school. I can thank many of you for chiming in on that. I wish I could remember who it was that suggested I give it the Synergy Green wrap when I told the story of how it was the color of her deceased father's Camaro when she was 5 years old. She remembers it quite well and of course, has many pictures of him and the car.

This leads me to some questions for those of you who have had wraps done. What can I expect in terms of preparation? What do I need to do beforehand? How do the wrappers work around the emblems? Do I have to remove them? What should I ask for in terms of material for longevity?

Tons of questions...but before I know it, she'll be graduating in June....

So quality matters with wrap. Go somewhere you’ve gotten reviews on, and you’ll be pleased. They usually remove the emblems and reinstall them. A good wrap will last 5-10 years easy.

That is awesome! Here are a few just in Las Vegas. I would have to think these shops have to be on their A game all the time with the exposure there or they wouldn't be in business. Like MSgt O stated reviews are paramount. Contact a bunch & see what kind of reception you get. If you get rushed off the phone that is probably not the shop you want. A shop that takes time to answer all your questions is what I would look for. Narrow some down & ask for a visit.

Good luck!

Maybe consider selling the SW car and purchasing a green car for the G-daughter. Just a thought.

It will definitely be a very cool moment. What brought this on is that last week she spent a few days here and on one night I pulled out some old videos from before and shortly after she was born of her Dad and I partying, making music, hiking etc. And then the pics I had of he and I and our cars. I never showed her these before as I wanted her to be old enough to process it all. She'll be 18 on her next b-day so it was time.

I have considered that (on a few occasions, actually) but this is the car she grew up learning to drive in. I'm really hoping this is the car she'll keep long after I am gone.

I only have a little experience with wraps on my truck. Graphics, not the whole thing. (but would love to do that)

I don't recall ever seeing a glossy wrap. Maybe if I did, it looked so good I couldn't tell. Anyway, I was thinking that a good wrap will cost you about the same as a good paint job. At least they used to. Just spitballing here on paint vs wrap.

The advantage of a wrap is you can change your mind. If not, paint is the way to go.

You might want to be careful putting your long term expectations on her. Things change in life and do you really want to add to her guilt if she has to let it go somewhere down the line.

Wow, that's awesome Daniel!! That is going to be the BEST graduation gift ever!! It;s cool too that it is the car she has been driving all this time, and she is connected to it in a way she will appreciate it. Forever! Well done sir! Sh is gonna be THE happiest girl on the planet!! And as for the wrap, can't say much except that last time I checked like someone above said, they remove all the badging and lettering to do it. And as stated shop around for a good shop that uses quality wrap material. Do some research on vinyl car wraps so you get a feel of what's out there. I have a wrap shop near by and last time when I was looking they wanted about 5-6k to do the job!! You could get a nice paint job for that I beleive! But anyhoo, that's all I know. Cheers sir!!

Do it!!! I gave my SS to my son and he plans on never selling it. It felt so good to gift something substantial.

Pretty good point! Theoretically, you could repeat both processes til the cows come home with enough money.

A couple years ago, I was quoted mid-2000s by a local outfit, for a starry nebula wrap. but at the time, I knew little about them or what questions I should be asking. I have no idea what their wrap quality was.

Naw, we don't roll like that in this family. If she has to sell it for some reason, she'll just have yet another moment to thank me for my generosity.
She would know that if I were still around, that I would know she had a very good reason for doing so.

Indeed! All good points! And I agree! And it's good to know that they will remove the badging. Now I just need to find a competent shop.
