Rebates for 2017s?
Does anyone know if they are going to continue rebates with my2017 or are they completely done now? Obviously they are only doing a measly $500 for 18s but just wondering if they plan on bringing them back for the 17s next month. I’ve heard that Labor Day weekend is a really decent time to buy and I’ve had my eye on a leftover anniversary 50th 2LT, which I really like but don’t like enough to pay full msrp if they are offering the rebates on the newer cars.

I would think that they would really want to get rid of any 17s with the 19s coming out so they would continue whatever rebates they have on them right now. Maybe the rebate from GM is only $500 right now on 18s but you should be able to get a lot more than $500 off of 18s because the dealers also want to get them off of their lots before the 19s arrive. My local dealership currently has over $6,000 off a couple of 2018 1ss convertibles.

In for the haters that are going to say the 17 and 18‘s are more valuable than the 19’s because they don’t like them yet.

Doubtful since any dealers who have new 2017s left are going to discount the heck out of them to get them off the lots without Chevy chipping in. I would imagine the 2018s will have some kind of deal over labor day though.

The 17s are dealer property now. GM isn't offering any specific consumer rebates on them, but the dealer may have some incentives to make a deal. They want them gone. I bought my 17 last month and the dealer gave me a tremendous deal, without any official rebates from GM.

There are at least three types of incentives...
For example, I was driving through Ontario, Canada yesterday. Chevrolet is offering 0% financing for 84 months on all nameplates. Now is the time to buy a 2018 Camaro in Ontario. Free money for 7 years. There is no such offer in the states of Michigan or New York where I crossed borders into and out of Canada.

Not many 17’s left in my area but the ones that are aren’t incentive worthy. Maybe during the end of the quarter, but then again...

Even discounted at the dealer level, 2 years of depreciation isn't going to be nice once you drive off the lot. Look at what used low mile 17 Camaros are going for.

They would be willing to price it as a used/ cpo car? The msrp is close to around 41k, do you think they would go that low?

There's a reason why a 17 model car hasn't sold - something about it makes it not too interesting. In my case, it was a a base LT/RS with V6 and manual. Seems like most people looking for a base model sporty coupe want an auto, and performance buyers want a V8. I'd only take a manual, and the V6 fits my needs just fine right now, and at a price that was truly too good to pass up. MSRP was $31.5 and it worked out to $23k sale price. That's about 27% off. If you got the same % you'd be at ~$30k. It all depends on how badly they want to move the car, but you have a lot of leverage on an old unit like that right now. Just don't be afraid to walk away from the deal, and also let them know you WILL buy it today if they make the deal. |
