Display configuration for track
Hi all, new to the Camaro world. Coming from BMW M2 and a Mustang before that.
I had a question about configuring displays for track use. I have 75% of what I'm looking for, trying to see if there is a way to get it all. I'd love to see the following. On the instrument cluster display I'd love to see: 1) Oil Pressure 2) Oil Temp 3) Coolant Temp 4) Fuel guage I get most of this in normal display theme, but battery voltage instead of oil temp. Is there a way to edit this? On the infotainment display I'd like to see: 1) Tire Pressures 2) Tire temperature The M2 had both temp and pressure on one display on the infotainment screen, and it was very useful. You knew exactly when to come in to adjust pressure, or when to do a cooling lap because tires were about to get greasy. I know you can swipe the infotainment screen left to shift audio screen to the cluster display. Is there a way to swipe right to get tire info on the infotainment display? Cheers! |

Unfortunately, you cannot move items from one page to another, and neither can you change which 4 gauges are shown by the standard display theme.
Completely agree that both of these would be very useful, I often find myself switching from info to perf just to see the one gauge I'm after. I'd also volunteer for implementing this, alas, the older 2.5 infotainment we have is abandoned now, and of course GM aren't looking for enthusiasts anyway, heh.

Thanks for the insight arpad_m. That's what I was expecting, but thought I'd ask.
So I should re-phrase my question. What gauge choice do you use for track days? I'm leaning towards leaving the Oil Pressure, Coolant Temp and Fuel on top, and selecting tire pressures on the center screen. I figure if oil temps start getting high, so will the coolant temps due to the oil cooler. What do you guys think? |

I delete the not-useful items from the pages: speed limit, track timers, eLSD animation, battery voltage, etc.
From default speed limit screen, three presses of ‘up’ button gets me tire pressures. From performance screen, same 3 ‘up’ presses gets me to oil temp, and one down from that is trans temp. I generally roll on track with tire pressures shown until they come up, them switch to oil temp and trans temp (one down from oil temp). Key is deleting non-used items to limit scrolling, and memorizing the number of ups/downs to find what you want.

Harry's Lap Timer Android app with OBDLink bluetooth dongle shows coolant temp as a number on my phone along with lap times and a live +/- delta. It may be possible to configure it to show oil temp/pressure but I haven't tried...I'm assuming the car would throw a warning light/notification or something if those values went outside of acceptable ranges. Tire temperature data is recorded by the PDR and viewable afterwards in Cosworth toolbox so there may be a way to view it live if you can find the PID for each tire temperature value. The car's cool/normal/warm tire temp display page is not very useful to me on track either.
I have found that the TPMS takes 5+ minutes to update so it is not very useful during a track session but it tends to match the temperature I get with a physical gauge right after a session because it updates sometime during the time taken for the cooldown lap and parking. A few times I have come in without a cooldown lap and the tpms display has been around 3psi lower than actual. Last edited by cdrptrks; 06-18-2021 at 07:50 PM. |

Banks iDash works great, includes lots of data points, and is easy to read.

+1, will also show alcohol % if your car is running on moonshine.

I use the tire pressure display for track since my track wheels have TPMS. You do need to compare the TPMS pressures with an accurate gauge like a Longacre since the TPMS can be off a little

I use Perf view with oil temps. Firstly, to ensure oil is warmed up sufficiently before i start pushing, secondly the oil temp seems the most reliable indicator of how a motor is doing overall. NB Never seen tranny temp be an issue - in my 6 speed cars anyway. As far as tire temps, i can feel what's going on there pretty well on outlaps and then thru a run, so really dont care about a tire display per se. I also prefer to do a manual psi check as soon as a session ends, as the sensors can sometimes be all over the place. Plus a visual inspection of the rubber. Works for me Cheers!

I just installed my Banks iDash Supergauge and I can’t find Engine Oil Temp or Trans Fluid Temp in my gauge options. I have the latest firmware and I pooled all of the menus from the banks website and that info says that those parameters should be in the temperature category but they aren’t in mine. Can you guys tell me what your vehicle selection and engine information settings are? My vehicle selection is standard because I couldn’t find some thing more applicable for the Camaro. Thanks in advance. |

Those are pretty much the same parameters I bought the iDash for. The problem is that trans temp, EOT, and E% aren't even listed as options when I go through the gauge selection menus. I can only assume I haven't setup the device correctly for our cars. Can you tell me what yours days off you go into Settings->Engine Selection? Mine is on Standard.
