Weird noise
So I got a question for you all. I started noticing a noise coming from the car when i accelerate. It sounds like a whine similar to a supercharger. I can hear it when I have the windows down and I hear it most when i start to drive like after a stop light. The car runs fine no other issues at all. I just never heard this sound when I had my other 18 1SS non 1LE. Any thoughts??

I don't think it's the sound tube or the air intake. When the car idles you can't hear it. It's only when you press on the gas pedal. Going back to my old car stereo installation days, it sounds like alternator noise when you had a bad ground. I'm going to call my service guy at the dealership and have them take a listen.

It’s under warranty, drive the piss out of it! Whatever’s going to break it’s gonna break and then it’s got warranty.

I had same issue so i just replaced my tensioner, hard to find but easy to replace, went ahead and also replaced the serpentine belt, ac belt looked ok. Bought parts on amazon
Pulley part # 12686229 $70 ACDelco - Tensioner Asm-D (SLP-1) (12686229) https://a.co/d/8qlzqny Serpentine belt part # 12643218 $23 ACDelco GM Original Equipment 12643218 V-Ribbed Serpentine Belt https://a.co/d/75A6xBv 1. Remove intake tube 2. Use15mm socket to release pulley push down clockwise with right hand and slide out belt with left hand. 3. Remove top bolt with 15mm socket and bottom bolt with 13mm socket(both lefty loosey). Not much effort at all oil drain plug is in tighter. Took out bottom bolt entirely and then top bolt. 4. Now in reverse order with new pulley, feed top bolt till snug and then bottom bolt tightened around 16ft-lb, then tighten top bolt 43 ft-lb. 5.Install belt, make sure belt grooves are set each of the three pulleys and release tensioner pulley(15mm clockwise) and install flat side, engage tensioner pulley. Note new pulley will take a little bit more effort. 6. Install intake tube and start engine to test Added some pics of old and new, cheers. Last edited by heydudebro; 10-07-2023 at 01:48 PM. Thanks for that info. My car only has 6000 miles on it, should I be having to do this kind of repair already? Or do you think I should take it to the dealer since its under warranty?

Document the car's condition at time of drop off so any damage can be addressed. Do a video walk around to show there are no scratches or dents, document mileage. If you have PDR put it in "valet" mode. Leave a GPS in the car to record the top speed of any road test they may take, a quality dash cam is good insurance as well. Good luck.

Update to my noise problem. Took it to the dealership and found out that it was the alternator. It was starting to shit the bed. I caught in time before it left me stranded. Covered under warranty now I'm a happy Camaro owner again.

Will take it to the dealer to check it out before it gets too cold.

Update on noise issue:
The sound is back. Not as loud as it was originally, but definitely can hear it again. I don't know if this is a normal sound that comes from these cars(1LE's), but I know for sure I did not hear it when I had my '18 1ss. |

So, an update on my car. The whine noise continued and became louder so now it is in the shop to have the transmission repaired. Will update on what they had to repair as i get info.
