ATS 2.0T/G6maro VS Ecoboost2.3T

Alot of us have wondered how the new base camaro will stack up to the mid level trim ecoboost mustang. ..I did some digging to put some numbers into context. A side by side comparison of sorts. So here we go...p.s beat the dead horse
.............................Ecoboost 2.3T.............vs..........ATS/2.0TGen6? "Test data C&D"
Curb weight. 3,657 ......... 3,479
0-60. 5.5. ........ 5.7
5-60. 6.8. ......... 6.6
0-100. 13.3. ........ 13.7
1/4mile@mph. 13.9@102. ........ 14.1@101
Top speed. 148. .......... 150
Stoping70-0. 157. ......... 156
Skid pad/LatGs. .98. ........... .92
MPG/Avg. 22/31-22mpg test ave.. .......... 19/30-21mpg test ave.

By the looks of it I expect to see the quintessential "dog fight" no matter the engine choice... Thought threats concerns? Lets do this

As much as I hate to say this but ford did an awesome job on the new ecoboost.my cousin ordered a premium yellow one a week ago.i think the LT engine is not doing enough for the camaro(it might be a good daily driver for a lady) and its not reasonable to compare it to a mustang.i think it would be fair if we compare it to something like a toyota GT86

That's because Ford wanted to get rid of the V6, which is why they made the EcoBoost 2.3 that powerful. The V6 Camaro will be quicker.

I think you will be shocked how close they will be, but the Ecoboost will definitely be faster on average. The LGX vs Ecoboost is what will be interesting. Don't forget the Mustang is still using a 6 speed auto were as the 6th gen will have a 8 speed.

Also I thought the Ecoboost weighed closer to 3400lbs. Was this a PP Ecoboost number used from C&D?

Yes I do believe in paperwork it was a PP car ...that being said the Cadillac in the test wasnt skimping either. ....the ATS V6 automatic "premium" I think tipped in at 3650 or so ....EITHER WAY its cool to out into perspective the weight to power difference ...the trap speed tells me that both cars are quite equal.

Well I have an 8 speed auto on my genesis coupe and I can tell you that I dont feel much of difference.but on my father's genesis sedan( yes we are a genesis family) its very very smooth and fast.i think the 8 speed is more suitable for sedans then sports car

That's probably because the 8 speed used by Hyundai was developed by them and is nothing special from what I can find. The switch from a 5 speed auto to 8 speed (developed by ZF) in the Charger/Challengers dropped their 0-60 and 1/4 times by almost 1/2 a sec. Engines with broad powerbands make good use of the better gearing as well, not to mention the help with highway MPGs. The GM units are just as good. You should read about it before basing your judgement on what is a subpar Korean sports coupe in most people's books.

the 8 speed on my car is ZF too.besides I saw lot of you guys talking about how fast the 8 speed is and its faster then the manual???!?!!?!?!!how in the world could an auto beat a manual in launch????if you guys are judging by the quarter mile results that GM announced then your wrong . because a lot could happen in a manual.maybe the guy was $h!ty driver maybe he changed gears slowly like a lot of us do.the only difference between a 6 speed and the 8 speed is that it change gears at lower RPMs and give you better gas mileage and smoother cruising . At least thats what I experienced.

In any car with a new, modern transmission the auto is a bit faster than the manual. It has been that way for a while.

ITS the offspring of GMs Delphi days ...it is literally a magnetic field that dampens and adjusts to specific road conditions every 1/100th of a millisecond. ..if im not mistaken we are in gen 4 which has now been outsourced to other brands such as Ferrari. For instance when GM was utilizing gen 2-3 Ferrari had just got its hands on the first generation for the 599-599GTB.once again that could be a little off but regardless its an example. ..
