My process: cliff notes version

I get about 6-8 pm's a week asking me what my process is, and apparently a lot of people don't want to read the documents I wrote, so here it is in short form of what you need to do a 3-4 hour detail that will last 6-12 months. How is this different from other procedures? Only one way: it's just the minimum amount of work you need to get gloss and durability. I don't like wasting all day detailing my car.

You can do a polymer detail (p) or a silicon Si02 detail (s) which to choose? My Opin is p glosses a bit more, s better durability.

Minimum needed from autogeek or other site:
1 nanoskin FINE sponge, wash and use sponge with Dawn (blue)
1 bottle blackfire TOTAL POLISH AND SEAL (p) (or carpro ESSENCE (s))
1 small bottle blackfire CRYSTAL SEAL (p) (or carpro RELOAD, or TAC QUARTZ MAX (s))
At least 8 med priced microfiber towels
1 smallest bottle Carpro HYDRO2 (or Gyeon WET COAT) (both s)
1 bottle Duragloss all wheel cleaner
1 horsehair stick brush or eqivalent
1 Bottle TAC system Tire Coat (yeah this stuff is diff, lasts MONTHS)

Rinseless wash
1 bottle Carpro ECH20 waterless/rinseless wash
1 cobra Guzzlers or 1 other brand waffle weave drying towel 16 x 24

Or
conventional wash,
a mitt, some Meguires gold class shampoo and a grit guard(s)
2 waffle weave drying towels

If you are going to buy the griots polisher, do not buy one of their kits. Just get a blue or black lake country CCS pad and the polisher.

After this, just wash and Crystal seal or Reload every 4-6 months, you get this:

Thank you Glen! I used your process this week and it's been one of the easiest approaches for a pretty good shine.

No problem, after working with the Si02 products recently, I would lean toward the essence/reload option.

If you have new microfiber and waffle weave towels, is it necessary to wash them first?

After a winters drive I am doing some Meguiars 205 after the nanoskin.....then the Blackfire P&S.

205 works good.....fine scratches go bye bye but it brings out the bigger ones. {#]>~*^~{

I finally ordered the CarPro Essence, Reload, ECH2o, PERL, and a gloss pad from CarPro. Used save20 discount code and got free shipping in Florida. Turns out that their office is 10 minutes from my office. I'll have a few hours work ahead of me soon.

I remember looking at it all for the first time and it can be a little overwhelming if you've never gone to these lengths before, but it's all there in his master plan document. The only changes that I would recommend is telling people to get more 2 mits (1 for the car and 1 for the wheels). I'm just paranoid with my wheels and treat them with the same care I treat my paint. Edit - saw you upped the number of drying towels which is great. I don't remember seeing that originally.

I was actually looking at it again yesterday for a refresher before starting my summer Blackfire treatment. I'm going to try and finish it up with some Blackfire Wet Diamond and then Crystal Seal today after work. The only thing I can't remember or find in the documents is if I can apply the Crystal Seal directly after the Wet Diamond or if I have to wait? I doubt that I'm going to have time to wait very long...definitely not another 6 hours lol

Glen, I'm not sure if you've tried this stuff, but I've been using it for a while now with a foam gun and really like it: http://www.autogeek.net/bodsham1gal.html

Wait 6 -8 hours after wet diamond, before Crystal seal. Over the years I've come to the conclusion the wet diamond (step 2a) really is not necessary. It stains black plastic and trim and does not wash out easily on your pad. A second coat of Crystal seal gets you the same protection and gloss.
