The one I saw in my friends car was just a plain brown box if I recall...

I told my salesman this and he keeps saying the endcaps are an option and treating it like an LPO like it's supposed to be on the window sticker (which I also didn't get).

Is there anyone else I can ask at the dealership?

I will try this weekend. I wish I could look in wherever PDI keeps their stuff and search for this box. Although, if someone threw it away without knowing, I am pretty much stuck without endcaps for who knows how long.

(although the tape holds fine, I didn't use the adhesive).
Good info here. Adhesive huh?

Yup, and the adhesive is one of the super strong ones, like you use for windshields and the like. I didn't want that going on my paint.

Wow, your salesman is a complete tool huh? Go to the GM.

The dealer mis-installed my right end cap on PDI. The left one was spot on, but the right was too far back by like 1/8".

They did not use any adhesive, just the tape, so I was able to get it off (fairly, almost too, easily really) and reposition it. I used some small dabs of RTV clear in the interior corners behind the tape lines to secure it better since the tape was on its second or third stick by the time I got it where I wanted it using the left as a guide.

From this experience, I would note a couple things:

1. If you are relying on just the tape, these things could get knocked off without too much force if hit at the right angle (slightly upward from rear). Especially if it is hot outside and the adhesive is softer. I took mine off cold and it popped off pretty easy.

2. These are pretty tricky to get positioned correctly in 3D due to the compound curves going on in this area of the rear quarter panel. I had my best luck starting from the inside edge of the trunk and rear and working it down from there, leaving the tip at the outer edge for last.

3. I'd prefer the clear RTV to anything more obtrusive if I ever decide to take them off for any reason...clear RTV holds well, but can be broken loose and cleaned off fairly easily after the fact.

4. Considering adding the clear RTV to my left one if it appears loose in summer, but for now, "if it ain't broke don't fix it!"...

Will post some pics to illustrate "bad" and new positioning...

Before (with mis-alignment):

After Repositioning and RTV

Bottom line:

GM PLEASE start putting these on a the factory. Leave the front splitters off as that is the piece getting damaged!

^Yeah, I have also seen some huge gaps on the press cars. It's a shame they're not applied at the factory.

My car also did not have the end caps installed at the dealer. Do you have a copy of the assembly instructions that you can post? Also, what is the adhesive that you are talking about? I did not receive anything like this in the box. Thanks

I agree this really needs to be done at the factory to ensure consistent placement and gaps. If the edge pieces aren't on perfectly, it looks terrible.

If they didn't want to do that, then they should have made it a one piece (connected on trunk only) with edges that extend over, similar to the Challenger's blade.
