Go check out the Edmunds review. 1LE beat the Gt500 lap time
The comments on that video are priceless.

This was on a short track and I suspect that tracks with longer straights and longer lengths will allow for the Ford to put its power advantage to better use. I'm hoping for the LT5 in a special ZL1 1LE but thats my hope and dreams for the Camaro.

The Camaro at least is $15K less, throw that on your Camaro and that GT will be in the rear view all the time and you will still have money left over for tires, etc... No need for an LT5. Regardless, I believe most tracks will benefit the Camaro in stock form.

My hopes of this died when the GT500 comparisons starting coming out. The ZL1 seems to be so close even after being out all this time, that I think GM sees zero reason to upgrade the platform. I hope I am wrong though!

That they chose to use the huge LC-bog time and ZLE was still faster was pretty funny. That it "...was Chevy's problem..." or whatever Lago said was laughable. And claiming he was the Chevy-guy or whatever was dumb, too. Whatever. It was still a little surprising ZLE performed as well as it had on the track. Nothing else was a surprise, really. Any of us would've probably predicted similar outcomes before the test.
It's still cool to see these three cars duking-it-out. They aren't muscle cars though... save for the Pinkeye. I like that, HAHAHA.

This can't even be considered a laptime at all. Basically an autocross comparison.

While this is great, I'll reserve judgement until I see a professional driver take these cars on the track and compare them (Randy Pobst, maybe?). I have a feeling that they'll be really close in performance with giving the edge to the ZL1 1LE in tighter, more technical courses, whereas the GT500 will have a huge advantage on courses with a higher average speed.
Now, what will really be interesting is if they ever decided to test these vehicles on the same tire on a course that give both of them advantages. That would really seal the deal.

The thing that this may be bringing is a bit of awareness to the exotics crowd. There are Shelby guys and there are Corvette guys and there are GM guys. I want to see both the Shelby and Camaro get a little notice in exotic world. These are fabulous cars and they still are not known outside of a smaller circle of automobile enthusiasts.
