Glow-Tie

Finally got around to installing it, gotta say, looks better than I thought it would. Although I'm sure those that love the badge-less look will hate it.
Still, not a bad $12 purchase.

Thanks! AliExpress.com
Don't know what the long term durability of the parts are, but I think it's worth taking a chance for the low cost, and to see if it's something you want to keep.

Pretty sweet. How does this one wire up? I have the glowtie in the front but I didn’t know it would work on the rear as well.

Tapped into one of the license plate lights, but routing is another issue because there are no factory pass through plugs you can use to get the wiring into the trunk, and there's no hole behind the decal on the trunk lid.

Looks nice. That was one of my first mods when I got my ‘16. Does it sit flush on the trunk since the trunk has a slight curve?

A hole has to be drilled. I don’t feel its a big deal but some others do. Its only a problem if you ever want to go from the rear glowbadge to badge-less. Otherwise, putting the original factory badge back on would cover the hole

No, the light doesn't have the curve that the trunk has, but I'm going to hit it with a heat gun to make it fit better when I pull it off again to replace the tape with some better 3M molding tape.
Yeah, I really wrestled with drilling the hole, but after putting it on temporarily to check the look and really liking it, I figured the same as you, and I'll never go badge less.

When you drill that hole, make sure to put some paint on the bare metal or in time, it'll rust.

good idea on heat gun. I pulled mine off when I wrapped the car and never put it back on for that reason. I have another that I thought about filing down to fit the curve. Im about to rewrap the car so ill try that when its time. The emblem held up quite a bit to the elements. The chrome started to fade a bit over time bit again i had it on for a while.

I'm looking at these styles as well since I already got the wire in place.

The first two pics are of one model I'm intrigued by because it has a black face when not illuminated, but only comes with red LEDs. The last one I can't find smaller (this one is listed for the front grill of a Silverado, WAY too big for the trunk) and it still has the chrome outer ring which I'd like to lose since I'm trying to do a blackout theme on it.

I like the style of the factory illuminated front bowtie, if it had a flatter rear counterpart, I'd be all in. These ones you guys have listed are okay, but I'm not sure they'd look nearly as good from a few feet.

honestly I think the front bowtie illumination is to dim. Its barely noticeable.

I think it's subtle and glows just enough in the dark or at dusk, not trying to compete with the DRL's or the headlights. A matter of taste, really.
