interior spectrum lighting radio question

I'm prepping to add interior spectrum lighting to my 1ss
I understand how to tie in the cup holders to the footwell lights so they'll work, as for the white light around the radio ive seen the work arounds.

does anyone know anything about buying GM pt# 84582510 or 84582517 "Camaro. Display & components, 8 display, Premium lighting."

would buying the 2ss radio screen give you the ability to have the lighting around the radio?

id love to have the full fledged 2ss lighting in my 1ss, and the door lighting is cheaper than when I was looking a year and a half ago so the $300 radio piece doesn't seem as bad

For the 1SS radio I believe all you need is the color chips to replace the white light chips and the dealer to program it after

yeah I saw that method.

Basically what im wondering is if you bought the 2ss screen, that would also work because it has the color LED's inside correct? I would assume if you do the doors, have it programmed by the dealer, and then install the 2SS radio screen the lights around the radio would work?

in the end I guess its a stupid question because buying an extra set of cupholder lights and chopping that up would be much cheaper

I think by replacing the radio screen itself it may be out of GM’s scope or comfort. I’ve seen third parties have to program new screens to the car but am pretty sure GM wouldn’t do it

If you would rather eliminate the radio surround lighting

In my car I wanted to reduce the light from around my 8” display or eliminate it altogether. I don’t have the optional spectrum lighting and the white light was too bright compared to the rest. I’d prefer a bezel surround without the light at all. After I read the thread below on how to swap out the LED boards to get 24-color, it became obvious: Just unplug all four of the 3-wire connectors going into the back of the 8” display. When you put the display back in the dash you’ve just got the Micro-USB plug and the main harness plug inserted.
