So Far No Shutter Issues..But..Need Advice

So far my 2018 2SS with A8 transmission with 22,000 miles on her no shutter issues...But, should i get my A8 transmission flushed with new fluid anyway to prevent any issues i may have in the future?...........I know there are threads on the subject....But, i was looking for any new (fresh) advice...

Dealers won't do it unless they can detect the shutter with a pico scope. If you're talking about paying for it, it's expensive but may be worth the peace of mind of knowing your TC isn't potentially being damaged.

I’d do it. Even if it’s not needed for shudder, it’s a good maintenance practice to flush all the fluids.

I would do it just for piece of mind myself. My 2017 did not show up until 21,000 miles. But at the end of the day it is your car and you do what you need to.

I really think it's a no brainer to get this done even if you don't currently have the shudder, because statistically you will likely experience some form of it sooner or later

I'm actually thinking about doing it myself. I got the shudder at 12k miles. They flushed and replaced the hygroscopic dexos crap with mobil 1 per the TSB. For 6,500 miles it was great, smoother, no shudder. Then at 18,500 miles my engine blew. (fluke, number 6 bearing detonated and caused a catastrophic failure). They ordered a brand new engine and put back in the dexos crap after they swapped it. You would think they'd look at the service history and put back in mobil 1

If your car doesn't have shudder, they won't do it or it will be out of your pocket.

Have they updated the TSB since Aug. 2019? Per the Aug. 2019 version, dealers are "supposed" to perform the flush without diagnosing the issue. All you have to do is complain that you have the shudder. However, not all dealers will do it without a diagnosis. And GM customer service is no help. They will side with the dealership despite what the TSB indicates.

I just had my 18 2SS flushed last week because I wanted it done, not because anything was wrong yet... Car only has 8000 miles on it and I was just being cautious, figured this was a Chevy f-up and they could at least put the correct fluid in my tranny... When I first mentioned it to service manager he knew about the shudder but he said they had only dealt with it in trucks but he never questioned it...

Done at no charge so yes, go get it flushed and if the dealer balks at it go find another one!!!

I told him I wasn't sure but occasionally I felt a small vibration so just wanted to be safe, it was usually the road service but they don't need to know that!!! I really haven't had any issue with it...

Too bad you live in Cleveland area, I live just north of Dayton and my dealer is Joe Johnson in Troy, OH... They are great with performance cars and have always done a fantastic job on what little service I have needed for this car and my previous 13 V6...

This - I did it with my GMC Canyon (yes, I have 2 of these 8 speeds) and no questions asked by the dealer. Haven't got around to the Camaro yet, but it's next.

In old tranny's you did it before 80k or you didn't do it at all. Wait till 79k?
