T-TOPS
I am kind of new to this forum. Waiting on my 2SS 1LE to be built. Thinking about all the Camaro's I had with the t-tops. My first car was a 89 RS six banger (ouch). Those tops leaked so bad. In SW Florida summers it rains so hard. The tops just poured in water and would just pool on the floorboard. Collected water in the passenger side and rusted out the C pillar. My 95 Z28 was a solid top and was my 02 SS. i had the 97 Z28 anniversary white and orange with t-tops and they were pretty solid.
I do not care for the sunroof on the new Camaro's and I know the t-tops will never come back especially with the supposed demise of the Camaro after 2023. It would have been a cool factory option. I saw somewhere a company will do it but way too much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. |

I miss the T Tops on my Z28 more than anything else. I think conversions are like tens of thousands, so not worth it, but what a great throwback feature it would be. Realistically, if it ever came back, it'd be a targa, but there's just something awesome about the T Top design.

I love the t-tops on my 2000 SS. Mine fit pretty solid actually. Never experienced any leaks. Even going through a car wash, it never leaks

I do not care for T-tops anyway they want to put them in a car. My 1987 IROC Z28 had them and when it rained they leaked real bad. Had a tarp I would throw over the top of the car when there was even a threat of rain. The 1998 Camaro SS had them and they were solid non leakers because I never took them out except for a couple of times in the 12 years I owned it. I’m like you though and don’t like a sunroof but a lot of people do and that’s good for them. I do like the look of the reverse Mohawk roof on the 2010 SS I had and both 2016 2SS and 2017 ZL1 6gens of which I own the ZL1 now.

Same here with my '96, my experience was awesome and would love to have them back. A Targa would do it though.

T-Tops were awesome! 89 IROC and 84 Z28 both had them with 0 issues. Alas those days are long gone, along with most of my hair.

I can't say that I've ever driven/ridden in a car with t-tops but they do look cool... especially on the trans am's. I would love to have a removable hard top, like I've experienced with the C7 ZO6. I'm not sure if that would fit with our (6 gen) body design, however.

I had an 86 GT with T-Tops....they never leaked or creaked. I must have removed those things over 100 times. I loved them, something about the process of taking them off... yep, I do miss that car, and sometimes the big hair.... only pic I have of that car is with an old girlfriend sitting in it and standing in front of it.

I had a 91 Camaro RS with t-tops... Loved them, even though they leaked a tad under rare super storm level occasions. Always fun driving over a long bridge on what was a sunny day and BOOM storm/rain.. tops off.. HAHA.

Luckily GM solved the need for t-tops in the 5th and 6th gens, it’s called a convertible!

I'd love to have T-Tops, but I'd take the Targa top like in a Vett too.

I believe T-tops need to pass the crash test standards associated with a hardtop. Targa top is categorized as a convertible and needs to pass those standards. Either way if I were to have a car with T-tops it'd have to be a 3rd gen Camaro, nothing modern.
I do think it's odd the Mustang doesn't offer a sunroof and the Challenger doesn't have a convertible. However both currently sell better so what do I know. |

In '89 when I was in the market for a Firebird Formula, I was able to drive a T-Top car, back to back with a Hard Top car. The T-Top car handled far worse. So much structure needs to be cut out. It was like driving a wet-noodle when compared with a hard-top car.
If you track your car, stay away from the T-tops. |
