$80+ for a Key Fob!! Help!

My key fob has fallen apart - all the buttons are gone - and I made the mistake of calling the dealership to see how much a new one was...DAMN!

I've been off-line for a while, but I thought I remembered someone here talking about finding a remote from another car that would work on our cars. Maybe on Ebay or Amazon?

I really need a new remote, but not at $80...help please...

The Amazon fobs are ok, but they don't work as well as factory (like lots of stuff). Nonetheless, $20 vs $80, I replaced with an Amazon unit and just press the button more.

FYI, key for daughter's F150 is almost $300 from the dealer.

I did both of my keys and so far so good. I just recommend getting the key recut if your dealer will do it cheap - mine did it for $10. Lot easier than punching out that little pin - I ended up destroying the blade on the second one I did and had to order a new one.

You can take the guts out of your existing one and put it into one of the cheaper ones. You can even purchase them without the electronics in it.

Thats what I just did. I bought a empty fob case off Ebay for $6.00 and switched out the guts. The replacement FOB is as good of quality as the oem so don't let the price scare you.

I have had the mod done to my key before buying the car, so all I need is the remote, not the remote + blade.

Just swap electronics into a newer remote. Mine was a PITA to get apart, but I got it done.

I’ve got an extra original(without blade) one as well. Just up the road from you.

If I do get the full remote (not just the shell) how do I program it to the car?
