My CTEK Battery Tender connection
So I recently posted about whether I needed to hook up a CTEK letting the car sit 2 weeks at a time...well it looks like it may be sitting at least three weeks now so I decided to hook up my CTEK and thought I would share my simple process...and I have a question (see 2nd Post)
First I simply hooked it up to the post for jump starting as follows: Next I routed the CTEK cable up through the top of the hood: Then I simply shut the hood (making sure the CTEK cable was only pinched by the rubber seal at the top of the hood) and then put a micro-fiber towel under the cable running down the side of the car (Man I am so Anal...LOL) Anyone see any issues with how I set this up???

So when I turned on the CTEK it showed that it needed a charge and the orange light (see last pick in 1st post) is orange showing it is charging.
However, I have read a lot and back and forth about the type of batteries we have. From what I read I believe the ZL1 has an AGM battery...No? Anyway my CTEK has the ability to charge a normal battery or an AGM (see pic below). I initially set it on #2 assuming I have an AGM battery in my 2019 ZL1 and it is supposed to be really cold here this coming week. My question is should I use setting #2 or #1? Thoughts???

2, you have an AGM battery from the factory

Thanks for responding! I have it on #2 and seems to be working fine.
That is what the manual says...I also tried to look at the battery but hard to see in the trunk.

Does the SS have an AGM too or just ten ZL1? I’ve been charging mine on setting “1” for two winters now. Any harm done to a AGM on setting “-1”? Temps are usually 50-70 degrees.

All our batteries are AGM from factory because they are located in the passenger compartment.

That sure is the easy way to do it and does get the job done. If you are interested and want a cleaner look, check out this option...

I pop the hood open and connect from the front. Like the idea of opening the hood after a long drive to allow the heat to escape.

I have and use the same product. Works great! Setting 2 for the AGM battery.

I guess the difference between us is you live up north and will probably need the tender more than I do. I live in the Arizona desert and the only reason my will sit longer than 2 weeks at a time would be rain...WAIT does it rain in Arizona??? LMAO Actually raining a lot right now and seems to be every weekend However, during the summer months when it is 110 outside I do limit driving the car to once every two weeks so to at least keep the fluids moving, etc...or the occasional run up north to escape the heat. So maybe this summer I will look at implementing your setup....thanks

Thanks for posting and letting me know this. Because as of yesterday when I first hooked it up I have to admit I was worried something may not working correctly as it stayed in the charge mode all day (orange light)...but this morning the Green light was on and it was in the Maintenance/pulse mode. I guess it needed to be on the tender (been sitting almost 2 weeks) but I also read the AGM batteries take a bit longer to charge.

It is strange, that after I take the car out and drive for 30-60 miles or so. I will come back and put the camaro on the tender, and it will charge for hours? Doesnt seem right, but it has done the same thing with the last several cars I have had. You would assume the BCM, would allow the alternator to fully charge the battery from being driven.

I hook my Ctek up in the same location, however, I run the wire through the hole for the hood latch and out the flow tie. I unplug the wire from the clamps and feed the wire through the flow tie from the outside and up through the hole for the latch. Plug the wire back into the clamps and attach them. Super easy to do and I don't have to worry about pinching the wire or having sharp bends in it.
