A lot to remove. I stopped in halfway through my 3.91 gear installation. I'm glad a professional is doing this work.

Nice! 3.91s?

Man, I want a set of gears so bad. But I need a convertor too, for sure. My car pushes bigtime at stop lights. I'm hoping to do both at the same time.

$1550 total. That INCLUDES the recalibration of the speedometer. Best price I got after an extensive search. Plus, I'll get back the 3.45 gears, and I suppose I can sell them for $150 or so. Only 19,000 miles on my camaro.

As long as they do great work, you have the bucks to spend and are happy in the end - that's all that matters.

That's roughly what I spent, and that was including the 3.91 gears.
Only thing i wish i added was the Z/28 LSD and cooling package.
All I can say is, when my dealership completed my gear swap, my car ran 10 times better.

Well there really is no 'should' amount. That's just steep for me. I also don't know if that included his gears or not - but I assume it does.

Gears themselves usually cost between $300-550, depending on the completeness of the kit. I have seen multiple people pay $500-700 for labor and also plenty of people paying closer to this price, but usually that includes the gears. I would say the average I have seen is around $1200, gears & labor. But it tends to vary greatly depending on your region.

So $1550 total including the gears isn't all that bad, especially knowing it was dealer installed. It is just on the higher end.

Keep in mind a lot of people will remove the diff themselves and bring that into the shop for the gear swap, saving a lot of money on labor. Then they can have their tuner adjust the tune for the new ratio.

I had 3.73 LSD gears added to a Silverado at the dealership and it cost me $900.

My 2011 Silverado rear locker came apart a couple of years ago out of nowhere. Yeah I admit that i paided the dealership more than other shops in the area, but they also gave me a 3 year unlimited milage warranty. Only thing they asked was that after a few hundred miles that I came in so they could pull the cover to check the fluid and components.

Yes, that's total WITH gears. I had one shop quote me that price WITHOUT speedometer recalibration, which you can buy device on your own to do. The problem is that those tune devices can run around $300. Other speed shops were anywhere from $2000 to $3000. One guy initially stated "under a $1000" until he found out that it was a 2011. He screamed extensive labor due to the fact that its independent rear suspension. Based on what I see, he is correct in his labor concerns. Sure, there are guys who claim that this can be done in your driveway with the car on a jack. I say "Good luck." The way I see it, I've got a GM tech who knows what he's doing. He's done five of these before. That's worth the money to get it done right.

Wow that is steep I got my gears from Maureen it’s was a GM kit 350’ish and 750 for the dealer to replace also installed my 1LE shafts as well.
