Rotofab—sound tube delete?
I’m ready to pull the trigger on a Rotofab (although I’m still a little apprehensive). How much does the sound tube delete really matter? Does it really change the intereior sound that much? I’ve never heard one with the sound tube delete so I have no baseline to decide. Any input would be appreciated.

When deleting it from my Miata, it made the drive much more bearable. Less racket, more of an exhaust note from the back instead of somewhere from the firewall.

I didn’t notice a big difference but it cleaned up the engine bay so that alone was worth the delete.

I deleted mine from my factory intake. In tour mode with the exhaust flaps closed, it is much quieter inside and there is very little engine or induction noise. With the exhaust flaps open, the sound of the exhaust seems mush louder because it is no longer having to compete with the noise the sound tube was pumping in. Basically it made the sound difference between Tour and Sport/Track much more dramatic from the inside. And since my car is a 1SS, the lousy stereo doesn't have to compete with the sound tube anymore, so it does sound a bit better when the exhaust is closed. And it does clean up the engine bay quite a bit. With a new intake like the Rotofab, you may still hear a fair bit of induction noise even with the sound tube deleted compared to a factory intake. Someone with a RF w/ delete option would have to chime in on that though...

This is the reason I choose the delete.
With Cam and Headers it has ample sound as it is

We recommend the delete. I think the sound tube is cheesy. If you need a system hit us up we always have the best deals for board members.

Thanks everyone.....delete it is. Now I just need to get over the irrational fear it’s going to screw my motor up! Long story.....with my G8 it was my first mod I did....shortly after I learned I had a cracked piston. I just have a bad taste still....I know it wasn’t the Rotofab....it’s still a bad association tho! This should complament The Corsa cat back I just installed nicely!

Yeah I understand the apprehension. I changed the brand of my toothpaste once and broke my ankle within a week. Really makes me wonder if I should have stuck with Crest. |

Yeah definitely delete it. After I did mine I made a few firewall block off plates for the sound tube. Then got sick of setting up the cnc so I just make them on a SLA 3d printer now.
But sound tube delete is like a tow hook. Everyone does it but at least this has a purpose. |
