Headers is much cheaper and can be installed in your driveway in an afternoon. Just a much simpler experience all around.

No the Chevy dealer charged me $477 to install the gears. I supplied them. All in it cost me just under $1000 parts and labor.

You need to shop around. I paid about $1000 for the whole thing including the gears.

I found a complete SS 1LE 3.91 rear diff for $580, and will install it myself next month. I will then be able to sell my stock diff and make some of that money back. If you take your time you can come across deals to make it way cheaper.

That's a freaking steal, especially to be dealer installed.

I bought a 1LE diff and swapped it out, only took a few hours and I still have my stock diff.

I second the used diff. I got a very lightly used 3.91 rear end with REM polished gears and billet caps for like $1000. And I just recently sold my buddy my stock 3.45 rear (upgrade for his G8) for $350. So it only washed out to costing $650ish for the upgrade, and I only had a tiny bit of downtime while we swapped diffs
