Their stage 2 and 3 are in my list of considerations. When are you doin the install?

I'm not trying to scare anyone away. LS7 lifters can work fine in the right situation. Mild cam lobes with a power range that does not exceed much over stock rpm range, beehive/conical springs/mild duals...etc.

Now when you start moving up into the stage 3 stuff like VVT-3, Polluter, SSi-3/4...etc, using high seat pressure dual springs, and revving the engine to 7200rpm, then it would be wise to use something like a Johnson 2110.

I would say based on looking at different cam and spring packages. LS7 is probably ok up to Stage 2 or cams where the engine rpm isn't going to exceed 6800rpm and require a heavy spring to keep things in control. jmo ymmv.

Well that’s what I’m using. GPIs SS4 cam and the Brian Tooley springs. I typically shift 6700-7000rpm. Rev limiter at 7200. I really wish I would have upgraded. I just knew at the time to upgrade the trunion to get rid of those needle bearings. Would I have known the ls7
Weren’t that great I would have optioned the Johnson lifters as well. I asked GPI what they would recommend upgrading and they said ls7 lifters are fine

Also, bigger cam shafts need spun higher in the rpm range to net their full potential. I have seen plenty of cam cars run slower then a well sorted bolt-on car from not revving the cam up where it needs to be. Bigger cams trade low-mid range for peak power(there is no free lunch). So if you shift them at the stock rpm range you are making less average power. I haven't cross compared a VVT-2 to stock dyno graph so I am not saying revving it to 6500 will cost anything. Just food for thought when choosing a cam.

Edit* Here is a VVT-2 dyno graph in a C7 still running stock IM.
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...tang-dyno.html

Looks to me like you will want to spin it to 6800rpm.
I spent a lot of time on corvette boards and looked at that guys and others past posts on cams since they go a little more indepth on that board and Ls7 seemed good for my needs. Im not against reving past stock but when I tried that before I lost use of no lift shift.
His tsp vvt2 cam was early days before 0 degree lock, you think that will offset losses under 4000? Plus I will have ported stock manifold and think with my tuner he can tune with no loss anywhere.

Why did you settle on VVT2 instead of 3?
