Just took this picture of my 4000 mi V6 last night.

if a catch can will reduce buildup I definitely want one. And, I can't imagine why there would be warranty issues for a part that helps prevent carbon buildup on the valves.

I agree, but some dealers offer a cleaning service and would probably rather you bucked up for that when needed, who knows...

Pretty sure BMW uses a cleaning system and recommends it every 25,000 miles or every two years if I recall. That may be overkill...

The BMW turbocharged I-6 is pretty famous for needing cleaning very often.

I have a Mishimoto Catch Can and it is installed.

I just emptied my Mishimoto can for the third time. It has had oil in it every time I checked it so its serving a function.

You are right, it is a quick part to install and remove. However, with my track record, that becomes an issue. My 2016 has been in the shop twice since I bought it on 4-9-16, and it is still sitting there now. My 11 was in the shop for 11 months of 39 months.

I do think GM CCV system works great, but the PCV side does push a good amount of blow-by through the system. Every car is different, but the stock untouched system will pass oil and gas mixtures through the system that will get burnt off.

Warranty claims are tricky, most dealerships do not care, while GM will instantly revoke a warranty for it just being in place. I change my own oil these days and do most of the work on my car myself. So, I am not all that worried.
I'll do my own work as well unless it's something expensive under warranty. Which CC did you choose and why?

I've had my mishimoto catch can on mine for 5,000 miles now. I've gone to empty it 3 times now and each time there hasn't been enough oil in there for even 1 drop to come out.
Why is it that some of us get oil to empty and some don't? **shrugs shoulders**

I had an elite can on my Gen 5 and it suck to empty. I went withthe Mishimoto one as it was smaller easier to empty and blended well with the engine compartment. The build quality is really good (unlike their CAI) compared to other brands and they have a true baffle system.

I'll be installing my CC (a Mishimoto one) this weekend. I'll happily remove it for the once a year visit to the dealer, knowing that is at least stopping some oil. My '08 Jetta (DI turbo) was completely fouled at 36k miles and had lost 2 mpg on average each tank. Remember this isn't considered a "break" to OEMs since it's only reducing efficiency. Merely an opportunity to sell maintenance services. Most cars won't be noticeably affected until after the powertrain warranty is out.

To add to my other post. My car will just be a weekend car, and only see about 5000 miles a year, so it would be awhile before I needed any cleaning done, but regardless, I really want to avoid having to use any kind of cleaning systems at the dealer. So a catch can will being going on after I get my car. Other things people need to remember in regards to DI is to use good oil, don't skimp on your oil change timeframes, and always try to use top tier, premium fuel.

If it's not on this list, it isn't top tier: http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers/

DI does need more "work", but the gains are worth it.

What does using top tier have to do with? It's not like the valves get washed with fuel. The problem is that they DONT get washed with fuel so that PCV air just collects on the hot valve and bakes there just like on a flattop glass stove.

When I get my 1LE, it will have a CC installed. With the warranty being 60k miles, I want to make sure that I wont have any issues with the engine for as long as I own it.

if you spend most of you time under 1500 rpm vs someone cruising through the neighborhood at 3200 and constantly engine braking, you will have much less oil in your can
