Since my phone just barely, but fits the wireless charging pad, I prefer to use that, next choice is cupholder (because I tend to leave the phone in the car when it's on the charging pad, out of sight, out of mind—just in case a GM car ergonomy expert reads this, heh). I bought an additional rubber insert for the pad and will trim the protruding center ribs on all four sides, that way it'll fit larger phones as well.

That magnetic cigarette lighter mount copper3000 linked looks very promising, though, it has everything (wireless charging, magnetic pad, USB receptacle).

pro-clip center mount...somewhat covers the passenger seat heat/cool buttons, but they can still be reached even with a phone in it.

+1 for next to the shifter by the vents

When I'm on the throttle.... the phone is on the floor - since that's where it winds up anyway LOL

ive got a XS; won't catch a charge on there at all for me (actually, with the ZL1 and my old '16 SS; neither). It was a tad big with the cases I have (incipio feather and apple leather cases). I don't use that phone though...better on the shelf where it sits full time lol.
Next gen phones (ie, this year) won't likely fit though for apple or any other manufacturer.

I am another cup holder guy. I don't allow anyone to eat or drink in my ZL1, so the cup holders are phone holders.

You know, before you finish this completely, you could add a wireless charge pad to it. Since I don't see any wiring in your underside pic, I assume this is only a holder and not a charger.

This might help: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Same here, next to the shifter 90% of the time, works great until I get on the throttle, then I move it to the cup holder. Otherwise it will wind up on the floor.

Another center mount ProClip user here. I have used the same mount in my SS and now in ZL1. As mentioned, it does cover the passenger's heat/cool buttons, bu they are still very easily reachable. The mount is pretty solid and out of the way. Although, with Apple CarPlay getting better, there is less need to reach for the phone.

It really sucks they made the wireless charging pad so small that it’s totally pointless for today’s smart phones.

As soon as the weather clears up so I can pull my car outside and open the doors, I'm swapping out my wireless charging pad for the little cubby hole from the base model. Picked one up from a vendor metioned here for $29...that will be a much more useable space. My phone goes into a RAM X-Mount I affixed to the Pro-Clip base, this cubby space will be for the misses and her phone.
