I never got this.... GM issued owners an interim notification on March 26, 2019. Owners will receive a second notice when the remedy becomes available. GM' number for this recall is N182182760.

So...I must assume they forgot me. I will keep my car parked until I hear from them. From now on my DD will be my Schwinn Stingray bicycle with banana seat and streemers hanging from the handle bars with baseball cards in the spokes. Can't be too careful you know.

My dealership wants to keep it as well. They gave me "it's not safe to drive" spiel. I'm like "really because I had it in a couple weeks ago and you told me to pick it up because it wasn't throwing a code and the tech couldn't repeat it". Sure didn't seem to be a concern to them then.

wow man! Chevy needs to get their stuff together! Mine has had no symptoms yet. Hopefully not ever and I get a fix in. I drive mine daily. Fingers crossed.

Does anyone know how invasive a repair job this is? I really don't want them telling me they have to pull the Procharger, Headers, etc off. I wonder if I can do this fix myself.

Apparently it is some kind of "pulley", a "bolt" and software for the power steering assembly. I do not know how invasive it may be. Chevrolet called me today and told me that all the parts and (software update) arrived for the fix today at "most dealers". I would assume the procharger would have to be removed . .

A guy I know plugged my VIN in today and it came up negative. So I'm good.

I'm glad my wife wasn't driving when it happened in my 2017 2SS. Took more effort to steer than she could handle. Random steering failure is unacceptable and dangerous. That, combined with the A8 shudder, is really pissing me off.

Received an official letter in the mail. You can either go to a GM dealer for the free repair or have the service rendered elsewhere and send in refund form.

I don't think mine read that way. I believe mine said that if you have already paid you dealer for replacement for this issue that GM will reimburse you. Not that you could take it anywhere and have it fixed. Recalls have to be done by the dealership so they can be documented as being completed.

You are probably correct. Thank you for the clarification.

Does anyone know for SURE what exactly is being done here? Is it just a few bolts being replaced? It seems pretty straighforward and if so I would like to just order the parts and do it myself.

Would probably cost me $15 and save a day taking off work.
