Brighter Aftermarket HID lights?
Have any of you put on a set of brighter aftermarket HID lights for your Camaro? I know the Camaro’s lights are fine as is but just curious if anyone ever invested in a pair of brighter aftermarket HID lights and how they compare to the OEM ones? If so what was the brand name? Any good well know bright aftermarket HID lights you guys recommend?

I personally bought the Osram Cool Blue Boost HID bulbs for my car as I didn’t like the yellow tinge the OEM ones had. While these had a slight but noticeable improvement in light output the color was the main goal and most noticeable aspect of the bulbs. Due to the 6000K color rating I was leaving some light output on the table for the desired color but I would recommend Osram or Philips for your upgrade! I ultimately decided to purchase the Morimoto Quad LED Housing’s after some time as I personally think they not only look great but drastically improve the light output. This is not to say the OEM HID’s are by any means poor but I wanted the best.

I had the Morimoto 5K HID bulbs in my 17 1SS and I liked them, I do plan on putting another set in my ZLE.

I definitely love the Morimoto housings they are a fantastic upgrade in my opinion but they are expensive for many when the OEM is definitely already good. In your case between CBI and Night Breaker I’d go Night Breaker multiple reviews around show them having a higher lux output!

I have upgraded to HIDs on 4 of my cars, I've always gone with 6000K HIDs, pure white, not really any "blue" tint (yes, compared to the nasty, yellow halogen they might appear white/blue) but the offer a ton of more visibility and clarity while driving... HIGHLY recommended...

I’ve been torn between the Osram Xenarc CBI and the Night Breakers. One major thing is Night Breakers are DOT approved and the Xenarcs say off road only. That being said I like the look of the Xenarcs better.

Now that I know you don’t have to buy the whole housing (whew!), I see they have different frequencies. I’ve had the bluer light in other cars & don’t care for it. It also appears that the 4500K puts out more lumens. Has anyone used the 55w ballast? |
