Pardon my ignorance. I am a new member here. I just picked up a 2018 Hyper Blue 1SS m6. I saw the GM catalogue and they advertise a short throw shifter using the original knob. Could it be a GM packaged Hurst? Just a side note, I love my lane changing visibility using mirrors, but I sold a 2015 2dr Jeep Wrangler that had ZERO visibility for lane changes.

No GM's not that much different from the reviews I read. It's packaged in the LE I do believe so just a little better than the SS. I'm waiting on my Hurst as I post this lol can't wait

Here's the measurements on the Hurst shifter compared to the stock SS shifter. All measurements below are in inches. As mentioned in a post above, the new stick with stock knob sits slightly higher (maybe 1/4") taller than the white ball in it's tallest setting and more like 1.5-2" taller than the white ball in it's shortest setting. I suspect this is the reason I'm calculating a 34% reduction in throw (compared to stock) vs. the advertised 40% reduction in throw (compared to stock) for the production Hurst shifter with white ball.

The measurements also confirm my observation about 3rd gear being in a similar spot, while 4th gear being close to where neutral had been.

I had a closer look at the stock shifter and it looks like it angles back slightly just above the pivot point. The Hurst shifter is straight with no rearward angle to it. This is why the Hurst shifter sits a little more forward than stock (reference measurements above). This is not necessarily bad, but just different from stock.

We are working out the final details on releasing this updated version. We are also considering offering a group buy/forum special on these units once a date has been determined and if there is enough interest.

will this option become available for the LT models with TR3160 M6 Trans? I called yesterday and the guy I spoke with was clueless that the optional stock knob was even being prototyped for the SS

Now that MGW option is truly dead, I'm very interested in this.

@vtirocz about how long would you estimate a trained mechanic take to do the install?
