I've used MGW's before, but I hope Hinson makes one for the new V8 Camaro too...they have super short shifts...

I don't bang shifts, I don't drag race...I actually prefer the softer centering action. Everyone is different in what they like.

My original MGW on the Vette actually had too aggressive a centering spring. It took some effort to pull into 2nd and you had to maintain firm right hand pressure to get into 5th and 6th. On that shifter the springs could be changed out to softer ones and I did..

Everything is a little bit of a trade-off. Also shorter throws take more effort (from the Hinson video above)

Dang that Hinson is tight! The stock shifter is OK, but not great. I'm looking forward to MGW, Hurst or other offerings.

Woah this is interesting. I remember the Gen4 had the shifter bolter onto the top of the trans. The Gen5 got some slack suspending it kind of between the console and arms that went to the trans, hanging between the two. You saying the Gen6 went back to bolting the shifter right to the top? (Oh jolly if true. . . .)

Just FWIW and for third parties listsening, I don't drag race, and I rarely bang gears. I double-clutch and rev-match almost all shifts - the joy is the thunk-thunk, (one thump out of gear, one thump back in) of the MGW, using combinations of lateral push or finger/thumb movements to move it out of, or into, a gear.

Just saying - not just for racing; but for the sheer tactile joy that is driving a stick, the MGW and its lateral springs have a lot to offer. . . .

I went to a dealer - wanted to just sit in a Gen6 and see how much the interior had changed/size, no intent on driving, insisted I would not drive. But then I saw, what I didn't know was in basic SS, automatic rev-matching. Curses had to drive it. But let's put aside my commentary on what a beautiful machine this is. . . .

In my opinion, the Gen6 stock shifter is very much just a 'stock shifter'. I don't remember far enough back to know if it's better than stock 2010 (I'd guess they shortened the throw a bit); but it was wet-noodly/clumsy compared to Gen5+MGW.

I say this to keep out there the idea that some new guys may want to try out other options. I say this too in the respect that what people value in shifting will vary, and that others have tried stock + aftermarket and come to other decisions.

Congrats to anyone who has their Gen6 already with all those nice electronic goodies. . . .

That is correct. You can expect to see our Billet Plus shifter for the 2016 Camaro hitting shelves by the end of spring/early summer. We will be announcing it here once we are a bit closer to the actual release date.

Why in the world would you do that on a synchromesh gearbox? All that does is wear parts quicker...

Somebody has been watching Bullet to much.

I think he meant going down, Not up. It does reduce syncromesh as well as clutch wear . Triggering Rev Match does it all for you automatically.. Much easier on your driveline.

Rev matching and double clutching are not even remotely the same thing...
