New guy with questions, OY!
So I recently have had a couple posts my setup on here.
I’m hearing I might have an issue with my boost and 91 octane. I’ve looked into Boostane, Meth, Race Gas. . Not really interested in any. My question is, theoretically can I lower by Compression with a piston swap and help with 91? Right as is it’s going to be about 17 pounds of boost. I’m kinda new to this, just seemed like an option. I think dropping it down to like a 9.5-1 the boost would like the 91 better than the other. Just a thought, I could be totally wrong. Which is probably the case. Lol |

You can definitely lower compression for high boost, just remember, the lower compression will affect the snappy response you have stock when you give it throttle. Also, dropping 2 points in compression will drop naturally aspirated power by about 10%. In other words if your stock LT1 makes 455hp on 11.5 to 1, it's going to make about 400-410hp at 9.5 to 1. To be totally honest, running even a stock LT1 on 91 octane is not a good idea, it can definitely knock under load with such poor octane.

Oops, nevermind, just read you are working with an LT4 not an LT1, in your situation, you already have a good rotating assembly, id leave it alone for your goals. Easiest way would be to mix race gas, but you don't want to go that way, same with meth. Another option would be a mix of 91 oct and e85 so e50ish...

If the goal is to reduce total compression then maybe a less aggressive set of pulleys is easier and less expensive than a piston swap? It would be easy to adjust later if you find a source for better fuel. |
