2.75 vs 3 inch exhaust

I am ready to order the Stainless Works Redline axleback and they have two options : stock 2.75 connection and 3 in case I decide to add their headers. I am not sure which one to pick.

From what I understand it makes sense to get the 3 inch version and use a reducer for now, and when I am ready to get headers, then it will be plug n play right? is 3 inch the standard for aftermarket exhausts?

Id go 2.75 that can always be expanded to marry up to the mid pipe and header set up later on down the road. One crap company (cough AWE) uses/used a crap reducer setup on their 3" axle back and it was pure garbage that I ended up having to have welded.

Thanks! Are there any negatives (loss of hp/ pressure) in sending the exhaust fumes into a smaller axle back (3 > 2.75?), or am I nitpicking? Just trying to gauge if this is important at any point.

Only when you’re running big power.
