1LE - Bang For Your Buck Power Mods

So I have had the car a little bit over 2 months & I am ready to start doing some modifications to it. I wanted to know what the best way/order is to go in to get the best power for the money. Eventually planning on supercharging or adding turbos, but that's a ways away.

Important difference, as one of the best bang for the buck mod has been long tube headers, which work very good with supercharger and not so well with turbos.
Decide on which FI you will eventually go with so you don't waste money on early mods that don't fit into the plans later.

Which one would be the best way to go? Or does it really come down to personal preference?

Roto fab cool air intake, then kooks or american racing headers, then corsa or billy boat exhaust, then msd manifold, then stop and think if you really wanna touch the engine or add any forced induction in my opinion. I personally have heavily modified all my past muscle cars with now regret. This one will stay stock or have some minor bolt ons at best.

This is where I am. Might get headers and an intake in a couple years.

Wouldn't headers on a stock NA engine loose on low-end torque?

Intakes on stock (and especially NA motors) from my past modding experiences have never proven to be real power adders, same about end-mufflers.
Paper OE filters work just as well, but sound quieter and less "sporty" - but that is about that.

It's not fun buying or building a new bottom end. I did just from doing a cam and heads on my LS1. So many people think "it's all in the tune". I guess if you tune it to make no power down low it might help, but it will drive like a turd on the street. You really need an unlimited budget when you start down the road of FI or N20.
IMO, you should do what not many folks do and beef everything up before causing catastrophic damage that costs more in the long run ie pistons, rods, etc.
I picked up 30 wheel with longtubes and high flow cats on my cammed LS1. The only thing I noticed a loss in the bottom end from was the cam. These cars make so much more useable low end torque, I'd trade some for high end hp gains from headers, intake manifold, rotofab, and ported throttle body.

On my previous LS2 and LS3's the addition of long tube headers made power everywhere, or low end losses so little the added sound made it seem faster.
There was no down side IMO, wouldn't have it any other way if I were to do it again.

The only question I would have is how much better are the tri-Y manifolds now on the LT1.
Would long tube headers still make that much improvement over the newer design manifolds.

Guys are making silly numbers at the wheels without FI. E85, longtubes, CAI, MSD intake, larger TB, cam, and heads. Check out Pray Porting on Facebook. They're well into the 5XX wheel horsepower range.

If you’re not ready to have a Tune done don’t waste the cash on anything IMHO.

Do the E85 & Tune or wait until you go headers, e85, Tune & Intake all together
