Any aftermarket shifters?

I have been patiently waiting for someone to come out with a short(er) throw shifter for the M6 zl1 and no one has seemed to be interested in getting one made.

I LOVED my MGW shifter in my vette and would kill at the chance to get one in my zl1. its a TR6060 and that trans has been out for several years.

Id assume it would be fairly easy to make as past TR6060 shifter to work on the new 6th gen cars...

just a thought, but would any shifters for the SS models fit? I would assume so. its not like the shifter needs to be zl1 specific, just a TR6060 6th gen one.

Should be the same shifter as the SS. I have the Hurst billet, with a black ball! Love it, way shorter than the stock shifter also love the feel of the ball

I called they said most likely they will not be making a shifter for the gen 6 ZL1 because the install would be horrendous ( drop the tranny ) and they did not feel people would be anxious to buy it

Well this makes me sad.

Wouldn’t the install be the same as the SS?

I thought the 1LE/ZL1 shifter was pretty good....

That much difference with the Hurst?

I really can't imagine a better shifter feel on the ZL1 1LE. Maybe I'd like to get a classic ball knob, but as far as throws and feel are concerned, I'm happy.

Yeah, that's why mgw doesn't make one for the SS either. Hurst is pretty much it.

Haven't tried the Le, but from what I've read it's slightly shorter than the SS, the Hurst is quite a bit shorter than the SS and the gates are closer also, when no lift shifting 2-3 ,4-5 is noticebly easier. The 1&2 , 3-4 is notchier though but not hindering. Just my opinion. Wouldn't go back , like the black ball look also😉

The same was required for my GT350 and it didn’t stop them from making that one. It was fantastic. Shame.

I believe it’s 40-% shorter throws with the hurst vs a SS shifter. But the zl1/1le shifter I think is something like 10% shorter than the SS shifter

So I’m guessing 30% shorter throw

I feel my ZL1 shifter is a little to "rubbery" I would definitely like something a little more direct.

I don't really have a problem with the shifter in my 2018 ZL1 M6, but I don't like the shift knob at all. I want to put an 8-ball from Epco in mine.

So, I just ordered this: https://bartonshifters.com/shop?olsF...t-knob-adapter

I will post something here if it really does fit. It is supposed to fit the Gen 6 SS and I cannot imagine that the shift handle is different between the ZL1 and SS. The shifter mechanism... maybe, but the knob and shaft I find highly unlikely.

Like I said, I have already ordered mine and will let you all know if it fits. And I will post pictures.

It’s not bad by any means. But my little trex arms would like a shorter throw as possible lol
