2017 2ss
Traded in my 2016 scat pack challenger to get a 2017 camaro 2ss..
Was told the car has 18 miles on it, and the car will arrive within 24 hours.. Get home few hours later they tell me it will be 2-3 days until I get the car, and that the car will have 500+ miles on it because they have to drive it down.. Is there anything I can do? They won't tow it down and are going to drive it, should I hassle? Has this happened to anyone before? what would you do? Last edited by instagram; 01-13-2017 at 11:58 AM. |

That's a very personal decision. I would never take a car with that many miles. Others won't care at all.

I'd be asking for a BIG discount, like $1000.

500 miles is a negative at least for me, i can see like under 50 miles to dealer - dealer transfer but 500 miles and a driver who is the unknown and road conditions that are as well. Dings, chips, scratches would be all on the top of my brain while it would go through all that. They need to step it up and ship it on a truck for gods sake!!!

I bet the hit on that 1 year old Challenger is huge.

My 2017 was delivered via flatbed rather than driven. I wouldn't be too thrilled with the idea of someone else putting the first 500 miles on my car.

I'd want to drive it back if that was me. But odds are it will be some old fart that does the dealer trades. They usually are some old reliable retired guy. Not some young porter Im sure.

Someone drove my car from Niagara to Toronto (about 120 KM aka 75ish Miles) for delivery and even as a complete car newbie getting his first car ever, those 120 KMs on the odometer didn't feel right
When I get my Camaro I'm making damn sure it gets delivered on a flat bed / transport truck to the dealer or my home directly before I sign the contract |

Well for one you can't take delivery at whatever dealer has it.
What probably happened is they found a local dealer to dealer trade your car, but for some reason that might have fallen through and the only other car that matches what you bought might be 500 miles away and they are just trying to keep the deal together. It is your right to refuse that car. If you don't take physical delivery of the vehicle IT IS NOT YOURS. Being in the business I would never buy a car, especially a Camaro, that was driven 500 miles from another dealer.

That said - is it a lease or a purchase? If it's a lease, I wouldn't care because it's under warranty for the duration of the lease (unless it's a 4 year and even then the powertrain is still covered) and service is free for the first two years. If it's a purchase and you plan on keeping the car long term...I'd be pissed. The first 500 are a critical part of break-in. If it gets driven hard, who knows what long term effects it will have (although even break-in procedure is up for debate).

Good Luck .. I own both a 16 Camaro SS and a Scatpack challenger.. ain't no way I would trade a Scatpack for the Camaro unless your looking for a straight up better car in the twisties.. and your not daily driving it .. Camaro is fun but man is it small inside with no head room and rear seat is non existent.. as far as 500 mile delivery Hell No
