Memory Mirrors

I've wondered about this since I got my car about two years ago but always forget to look it up. What is the reasoning behind having the memory side mirrors point to the sky when I get out of my vehicle? I understand the seat going back to allow easier egress, but why do the mirrors have to move at all unless "driver 2" gets in the car someday? Seems like unnecessary wear on the mirror motors.

I never noticed that the mirrors are tilting.

Mine only tilt when I back up to show the lower area that cause a curbing by the wheels and I didn't set that up to do that, the tilt or adjust with my driving settings but never have they tilted upward the sky.

Sounds like your memory position to exit the car is set to do that. Put the seats/mirrors where you want and save it.

you have the exit programmed to move the mirrors up. Put everything were you want for exit then memory save. I only have my right mirror move down in reverse so I can see the edge of our driveway.

Set your mirrors with car running in park, when you go to reverse they drop to show you curb placement, standard on 2ss

Pg 46??

Reverse Tilt Mirrors
If equipped with memory seats, the
passenger and/or driver mirror tilts
to a preselected position when the
vehicle is in R (Reverse). This
allows the curb to be seen when
parallel parking.
The mirror(s) return to the original
position when:
.
The vehicle is shifted out of
R (Reverse), or remains in
R (Reverse) for about
30 seconds.
.
The ignition is turned off.
.
The vehicle is driven in
R (Reverse) above a set speed.
To turn this feature on or off, see
Vehicle Personalization

That is for mirrors tilting down in reverse, not looking for UFO's when exiting the vehicle.

I'll get in there and mess with the settings, but this is not the option where the mirrors point down at the curb in reverse, I know for a fact i have that disabled. No big deal just wondered why it did it. Sounds like mine must be a special edition since it doesn't sound like anyone else's does it.

Like mentioned above. Set where you want your mirrors and seat to be at exit and save it on the exit (3rd) button. Same as you programmed seat 1/2.
