DIY Ceramic Installed

A lot of my content is on the Mopar, but the Camaro gets a moment in the spotlight this week.

Maybe the site issue wiped out comments?

I don't think anybody commented because although the video is complete and well done, there's not much to say. Yes, ceramic works…its becoming pretty commonplace these days.....

Gotcha, most folks I know are having it professionally done for big bucks...figured this might shine a little light on DIY for a lot less. I'm curious how it'll hold up long term.

If you spend some time over at the detailer sites, you'll see that there are massive amount of people that are doing it themselves. There are 1000 videos on YouTube with every brand being represented. You found out what a lot of us know, it's not hard to do it all if you do your homework. In my opinion many detailers (not all) have hid behind the curtain and want you to believe that it's hard, so they can charge huge amounts for it… All the cost of coatings is in the labor of polishing/correcting prep.

Agreed on the polishing....learned to do that myself years ago...or better yet take good care of the paint and avoid it. Most don't hang out on detailer forums....folks over there are as bad as which oil is best lol.

Looked into this. 4 days. $1,700 5 coats. Just don't know if it's worth it to me. Could do it myself? Probably. Should I learn a lot first? Absolutely. A shopping list and checklist would be awesome.

Any diy detailer can do a coating. It’s pretty simple...

Prep is my focus for now. I've learned that's the most important.

Yes it is. I have done two vehicles now with the Adams kit. I have also done a few sets of wheels with their wheel kit and the trim kit on my truck. Works well and if you take your time is not hard at all

How much is the Adam's? I know they make good stuff. The Gtechniq I used was $65 or $70 which is pretty reasonable for how it turned out. Been two weeks now and just like the Hellcat the dirt just seems to blow off. No need to wash it.

The kit was like $125 on sale (149 reg). Comes with applicator, coating prep, and micro fibers so you get more than just the ceramic coating

You can buy just the coating if you want also

That's what I figured, Adams is kinda like Griot's Garage...good stuff but a bit pricey.

Put some EXO on top of the CSL and you'll be really impressed. It's also very good on wheels. For a quick detailer, dilute one part Reload into 5 parts distilled water (if you go too strong it will streak).

Gtechniq after 15 months: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showp...&postcount=301
