Rode dirt bikes as a kid, got into naked sport bikes around 2004 and rode quite a bit until about 2019. Kawi Z1000, Yamaha FZ8, Triumph Speed Triple 1050, Suzuki SV650. I have to say, the most fun bike was actually the smallest displacement with with best torque curve.

As others have said... armoring up and putting on boots every time you want to someplace is a hassle. Lots of fond memories while riding, mostly with a girlfriend on the pillion. I've found when riding in groups with other bikes is usually when the most reckless things happen.

I also have memories of rocks hitting my kneecap at a relative velocity of well over 100 mph. A bee getting in my helmet. Riding across the Sonoran desert in 115 degree heat and drying out like a raisin. My back tire sliding out on a wet cattlegaurd. Short lived expensive tires that wear out at different rates front and back. Getting rear-ended by a 3/4 ton pickup while the driver was texting... nearly getting creamed by lane change from a sedan.

It got to where I was approaching 50 and coming to terms with my own mortality. I grew tired of dealing all of this and the bike was just sitting more and more. My GF wanted it gone, so it went. No real regrets, I still have a lot of my riding gear, though, and wouldn't rule out getting something again for short rides, maybe even an electric bike for commutes someday, but I don't really think anything available right now is ready for primetime.

I think riding motorcycles is one of those things that's just in your blood. I've riding since I could get on a minibike. I know people who have been in motorcycle accidents including myself. Everyone I know always points out when they hear about another motorcycle accident on the news... It doesn't stop me from riding. It's just in my blood. Nothing on earth gives you the feeling you get when on the open road on two wheels.

I would be lying if that isn't something that crosses my mind more these days too.

Just do it, they take up so little space. Cheap to insure... etc..

Some AI Spam Bot or something a page back brought the thread back to life. But... interesting now that post is deleted/removed.

I always thought a motorcycle would be fun, but my wife was always against it. Yet, she has always been behind me if I wanted other toys…..boat, convertible, trucks, e-bikes.

Rode ATVs, and side-by-sides since I was a kid. Even got a borrow a Honda Elite scooter for a year at 16. Have had multiple Jeep’s and 4x4 that I took on trails like the Rubicon trail.

Knew a few guys that had severe motorcycle accidents as well. Always scared me off in wanting one.

I agree. That is what makes the thought of ever selling difficult. Even if the bike is ridden very little, it really isn't that much money. My bike has been paid off for years and costs very little to insure/register. I also enjoy seeing it in the garage.

Never thought of hanging my motorcycle upside down from the ceiling or stacking my cars on their sides before, that's good thinking!

Yep... Mine isn't going anywhere... Just like my Camaro isn't. I stopped by the dealership today to park my HBM Camaro next to the new Riptide Blue Metallic (equinox). HBM for the win...

Loved motorcycles....had several and a few real close-calls...glad I survived...

Had my fun back in the day...not worth the risk anymore...Smart phones and idiots in general on the road these days make it too dangerous. Good luck.

Same. I t-boned a Nova going 45 mph went over the top and walked away almost unscathed other than a bit of road rash. She turned left right in front of me, 'didn't see me'.
