Race Car: LFX Miata Swap

Part 1 - In 2011 I bought a 1993 Miata about 600 miles from my home Air Force base in Clovis NM. A friend and I drove to get the car from Colorado Springs and I took it up Pikes Peak within 2 hours of owning it. I'm going to put up all the pics from the very beginning.

I used to carry my Saiga 12 with me at all times back in the day

I bought Enkei RPF1's for cheap @ 9.5 lbs a piece and sold the tires for some Nitto NT01's

30MM Laser etched shifter

7 lb Flywheel

My third open track day with the car at NAPA Raceway in Albuquerque NM trying out the new mods

Some of the Fastest Laps of the Day
Mine 1:40.677
Lingenfelter Camaro 650 hp 1:44.287
Audi R8 1:32.103

235 Hoosiers

295 Hoosiers

Time to do some more upgrades before next track day.
My Stock 1.6L

A cheap front splitter, it is amazing the grip difference in front end grip

And a new rear splitter to try and even out the grip added to front end from the splitter

New Cage from Miata Cage

Laser cut flanges

My buddy Joe showed up while I was working on he cage

Another Track Day

Evo X .................................................. 1:39.682
WRX STI............................................... 1:43.492
Audi TT...............................................1 :50.000
1999 MX-5 Supercharged...................1:38.500
Me w/added roll cage and seat...........1:37.706
Blue Vette............................................1 :41.000

I had the fastest lap of the day with a 1:37.

Working on my flat floor. Big improvement on top speed, stability and high speed grip

2/3's of the drag comes from the rear of the car. I also want to remove some of the heat from the exhaust and drivetrain.

Time to start painting everything

GF felt like she wanted to pull my old engine

Rear end yanked for a 8.8 swap

Yep there was a few reasons i didn't go LS, one was added price of the whole kit and powertrain. Two was weight, a bare bones LS was 120lbs heavier than stock and the T56 was about 60-75lbs more.

The LFX and 6 Speed is 40lbs heavier over stock which means I'm going to keep it under 1900 lbs for the car.

Did you buy a kit to do the swap, or are you fabricating everything yourself?

I actually remember reading about your miata on timeattackforums a few years ago, before the site became polluted with so much spam. Amazing build, there's a lot of beauty in the function!

If I don't feel a difference on track then I don't keep it or I change it to improve. Thank you for remembering me off of Time Attack forums, ya it started going down hill after all the spamming.

Here is my oil pan after cutting it and fixing the big hole after
