2019 SCCA Time Trail Nationals at NCM

Delayed post! Brought my 17' Camaro SS 1LE out to the SCCA's TT Nats at NCM and placed 2nd in S2. Wish I'd brought out a set of stickers, my heat cycled RS4s proved to be a challenge and an absolute riot trying to set flyers. Provost and I were "spec 1le." A battered lower control arm ultimately forced him to retire his car early.

Was great to meet some of the other Camaro guys at the event! Looking forward to next year! And bringing proper tires haha

PDR video and helmet came video from my best lap.

Track: NCM
Elapsed Time: 2:18.1
Camaro Model: '17 Camaro SS 1LE
Date: September, 29, 2019
Tires: 305 square Hankook RS4s
Mods: None

Thanks for sharing! What would you have ran on for tires if you had to do it over for 200TW? Thinking the new Yokohama A052 in 315/30/18 square might work well. I've ran the RE71R's, and they are quick but overheat here in Texas quite fast. The Supercar3 in 305 & 325/30/19 might be decent.

Provost and I think that lap would've been a 2:15 on Yoks or RE71Rs. Last year I ran a 2:17.4 with the stock tires

Patrick represented our “spec 1LE’s” very well! Old RS4’s were a knife to a gun fight in the Heat 90f+ ambient at NCM, a track already very temp sensitive. Awesome vids!

Ya, no kidding: old tires...an interesting "strategy" for competition to say the least What time won the S2 and on what rubber? What exactly happened to your control arm? Perhaps too much stress from running slicks?
Cheers!

A 991 GTS on RE71R's won S2. His best time was a 2:17.459.

FYI- I've run 2:16's on older RE71R (295/30 square) and 2:17's on OE Goodyears SC3's. Well, turns out my control arm was fine- the alignment adjustment bold on my drivers front strut had loosened up and was allowing for let's call it "active camber"... not ideal. Frustrated with myself for not identifying this until I got home and dug into diagnosing the issue. Easy fix.

Glad to hear your car is ok afterall. Kinda crazy that a stock SS 1le equals GTS on RE71R eh? Mind you a driver matters here zero doubt
