Open or Closed (GM vs Aftermarket) CAI

I'm leaning towards the GM Performance CAI for my V6 but keep reading from other post that open cai are at a disadvantage over closed due to heat soak. But if it was such an issue with this specific intake why would GM make theirs open instead of closed? I like the fact that it comes with MAF recalibration ("tune") to avoid any cels down the road on top of retaining full warranty... But I can't shake off the thought of not wanting to spend around $400 on a poorly designed open box intake and if a closed aftermarket will perform better for the same (or cheaper) price. Any thoughts / experiences?

I've come to the conclusion that stock vs aftermarket vs open vs closed makes little difference. If it were me and I had to have a CAI, I'd do the GM one simply because it doesn't mess with the warranty
