Question Vitesse Throttle Controller and Warranty

I've been reading a lot about the Vitesse Throttle Controller (VTC) and wondered if anyone would care to comment on whether the VTC could be used by the dealerships/service departments to invalidate a warranty? I currently have a Cold Air Inductions intake and an RX Catch Can and the dealership did not have a problem with those mods...

You have 3 options if they do..
1-Disconnect it and then do the service.
2-Hide the controller out of sight.
3-Disconnect the controller from the junction box, leaving the VTC still active.

If they can reasonably show that it could have caused or contributed to whatever failed or has to be fixed, then yes. Same goes for your other mods.

Good feedback! I was unsure if the VTC could be removed in real-time without causing problems. Does anyone know if the VTC leaves any sort of traces in the engine computer?

No, it doesn't leave any trace on your computer.

Your other mods would be more likely used against you in a warranty claim.

I'm a service director at a GM dealership- If your car had an issue that appeared to be in the fuel delivery or throttle body etc, we would ask you to unhook the controller so it wouldn't affect the outcome of any testing we do.
Not every dealer is out to bone ya, but it seems that many do it anyway.

You sound like one of the most reasonable dealerships in the world.

Yeah! I wonder how long a drive it would be for me to get my service there!

We get a lot of people who come here from NY, NJ etc just because we are laid back and honest. Being a gearhead myself, I understand the Magnussen-Moss Act and how mods alter things- and more importantly- how they *don't* alter things.
Only one dude ever got handed his tail and warranty cancelled from me and he came in with an attitude threatening to sue everyone in sight. Not only did his Audi end up blacklisted, I blew his doors off with my R32 afterwards.
If anyone has any concerns about how to troubleshoot from a dealer perspective on a modded car, feel free to contact me.

Just added a Vitesse TC in my Camaro last night. VERY entertaining mod... makes it feel as if it has more power than it really does.

Awesome responses from all. VTSummit, thanks for clearing things up from a dealer perspective, it's Service Managers like you that earn many dealerships their customers' loyalty.

If I end up with this mod, I'll just plan on removing before taking the car in for service.

Removing it is easy, but just setting it back to 0 would be a good idea if you wanted to leave it in there. Just don't expect the techs or anyone else at the dealer to know what that thing is and how to work it. What they will see is something that can alter their testing.
