Seat bottom mods

Hi all!

Just ordered my 2022. Also finally sat in a ZL1. I have a question for the larger fellas in the group. Anyone else find the Recaros seat base thigh bolsters are too close together? Anyone modify them so they don’t dig into your outer thighs? Hints on what to do?
Bob

The Recaros are pretty stout, so there's no "bending" or adjusting them. As to solutions...

Easiest option?
Buy aftermarket and/or custom replacement seats. SS or Corvette seats appear to be a little less aggressive with bolstering. Easy enough to test fit yourself in one at a local stealership or cars-n-coffee.

Cheapest option?
Lose some weight.

LMAO! That's where I'm at! ahahha The only part which felt slightly uncomfortable was the lat supports. I must admit, I did put on covid weight and need to get back down to 225.

Oh man, I know how to get there but carbs are my downfall. I lose weight quickly but also can put it on back quickly as well.

I need to cut that carby shit out; I've also got a wedding to get fit for.

There's that part too, I was used to running 5 to 6 miles a day but it took a toll on my body, mostly my feet. I got a row machine so I need to get back to that for cardio. If I start lifting now I will just turn into a thick meathead.

Sorry, didn't mean to muck up the thread.

Who doesn't hahah it goes it down to around 15% body fat though at that time.
High intensity lifting does the trick though, I just go too heavy to keep it up.

I love cardio. Run only 20mi a week now but also bike and do weights. Eat carbs too and stay lean. Just eat low fat and not much sugar. Screw that Keto crap. Everyone I know who goes on that gains all their weight back.

You guys are hilarious! I go away for a few days and my post gets hijacked into an exercise thread.

No, at 6’2” and 200#, I don’t need to lose weight. In fact I wouldn’t mind putting on a couple pounds (of muscle). No, my problem is my wide bony hips. They mount my legs further apart than most, placing the outside of my thighs wider than many seat bottoms.

I’ve now sat in both a 2SS and a ZL1 and prefer the Recaros frankly. However, I have no upholstery expertise and loath the idea of “practicing” on the seats of my new $75K car. I was hoping maybe someone had opened the seats up and written about it or maybe knew of a YouTube video on the Recaros. Something I can share with an upholsterer to avoid any pitfalls or take advantage of some feature buried in there.

Oohhh, you got them child bearing hips...

Sorry man, can't help you with the seats; maybe someone else can chime in.

Unless your willing to change seats or remove some foam from the stock seats and have them reupholstered... there is not much you can do.

I guess maybe I've had it a lot worse than other people in the past, my old track car had fat boy race seat in it and I took every available mm of space in that thing. Add to that fact that track days are usually in the heat in the middle of no where for 30-40 mins at a time. So for me the stock ZL1 Recaros feel great.

Just for reference I am 6'7" 285lbs with a 40" waistline.
