I managed to get a set of RE11s in 305/325 for my ZL1. I will have them mounted tomorrow. I ran them in my C6 Z06 in 275/325 and they were great for a Dual Street/Trackday tire. 7 Trackdays and 7000 miles they still looked like they were at about 75% life left. This was at a 1:45 pace at Laguna and 2:06ish pace at Thunderhill with the cyclone. Not the fastest out there, but not the slowest. Can't wait to see how the street ride improves over the 3Rs.

I just put on a set of the MPS4S's and I like them. I kept the stock tires and will rim them for when I go to the track at some point.

Any updates on the tire front. I like the Goodyears but they do suck in cool temps, I am not suicidal enough to try them in rain, water sits on the roads here in DFW bad. Are the MPS4S still the favorite?

I'm in need of new rubber too. Put 13K plus on the OEM S3R's including a pilgrimage to Detroit for the Woodward Dream Cruise, 6 autocross days, an all day test and tune, Starting Line school and a track day at Corvette Motorsports park. Fronts are corded on the inside edge and backs are completely slick now.

I want a great street tire. Over the winter I'll get another set of rims and put a great autoX tire on them. Ultimately, I'd like to add another set with track tires.

It's not my daily but i've driven it in everything but frozen conditions.

So what's best now?

I have the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s. I have been caught in a few very heavy rainfalls and considering how wide they are I was very impressed with the traction available. If I was in the same rainfalls on the stock GYs I would have been crawling down the road or just pulled in and waited for the rain to let up.

The MPS4S handles in cool temperatures, it handles when the tires aren't hot, it handles in all types of conditions wet or dry, and I bet that VERY few ZL1 owners could "out drive" the grip potential of them on the track. The chances of you needing a Slick or even the 3R tires are pretty slim. All in all, yeah I'd say they're probably the best.

I have to agree 100% with Can'tHave...the very best change for street driving. I'm certain the stock ZLE GY 3R's are the best for the track, but on the street, they were about 65%-70% gone at about 4400 miles, with only moderate street driving in the SoCal desert. The average driver will never notice the slight difference with the PS4's on the street. Anyway, who is driving any of these cars on the street at 10/10ths of the cars potential???

PS4S are my street tires. Goodyear set is for track days. I drove down to Camarofest IX in the summer and back with a track alignment and there was zero noticeable wear. Saw all kinds of weather and they didn't skip a beat.

Man, I LOVED the RE-11's. I used to run them on my 08' M3 and 335i. They were the best all around performance tire you could get in the 200 TW range. The groove design was awesome at excavating standing water.

The RE-71R's that replaced them, went more R compound and was more of a compromised tire, gearing more towards track performance and less for street.

I’ll plug Michelin PS AS3+. They are all seasons in 325/30, 285/30.

Dramatically good tire for all season. Keep 3R for summer, AS3+ for daily duty.

I just picked up a set of Michelin PS AS3+ in 285/35/19 with 19x10 Apex wheels in a square setup for daily driving all year. It should help with road noise and hydroplaning. The OEM wheels and tires will be reserved for dry track days.
