Remove front seat belts when installing track seats and harness?

Asked this question in someone else’s thread but haven’t got much response from it. 2018 1SS 1LE track only car would like to remove front belts to save weight. I see a lot of you are making the effort to reinstall them (BK seat mounts). Is it difficult to make it work (no CEL, airbag or sat belt lights) without them? Do I need the factory harnesses from the seats plugged in if it’s a 1SS?

You're going to need the factory harness with a resistor on it for no lights.

One of the big benefits with the BK seat mounts is they let you retain the factory belts if you want to for street use. I only do a minimal amount of street driving and its nice to have the factory belts as you shouldn't use a harness setup on the street, but some do. There are no issues with having the air bag light on with a 1SS. You just cancel the light if it bugs you. Also does not affect getting it to pass my state inspection, NASA, SCCA, etc.

The seat wiring harnesses are on national back order with no estimated delivery date. Other than the passenger presence sensor what are they needed for on a 1SS? Seat airbags can be taken care of with a resistor.

Well it’s finally time to decide which way to go here. I’m going to ruin these stock seats and for what? Car won’t be driven on the street.

Roll bar and rear seat delete is in.

I made the jump to race seats and just fell head first into a mod frenzy. I made a post on here a while back detailing how to do the install and keep the airbag light off, retain the memory functions and stock belts. I eventually went to halo seats and gutted the interior, all the stock belts, sunroof, carpet etc. I now have the warning light on and it doesn't bother me like it once did. Went through a lot of work to get the lights off and ended up having it on anyway. No regrets though, I love the way my car has turned into a track car.

So the seat belt and airbag faults didn’t interfere with any of the driving modes or otherwise cause issues with driving the car at 10/10ths?

I wouldn’t mind moving the seat belts over to the BK mounts but there’s a wire going to the seat belt buckle that goes into the main seat harness so that’s not going to work anyway unless I tear into the harness, rendering the seats worthless. Seems easier to remove the race seat with the lap and sub belts attached and put the stock seat in if you needed to.

Zero issues driving it! Though I'm not going to pretend I'm good enough to be at 10/10ths lol ... Maybe 8/10ths, there's so much unrealized potential in the car.

My original plan was just that, swap seats for track days and then swap back, ultimately that never happened and I just added a cushion to sit on for street driving. Just was too much of a hassle and I never got the ambition to swap them.

I even went as far as adding a blood pressure cuff pump to the passenger presence sensor to turn the airbag back on, worked good!! Just don't use any of it anymore besides the mirrors, that's the only reason I have the seat harness in the car at all.

Thanks, this is my son’s car and it’s a 1SS so the mirrors aren’t a concern. I was surprised to see that the seats appear to be the same in the 1SS and 2SS. When I looked underneath there is a fan for the ventilated seats that 1SS cars aren’t equipped with.

My son could probably drive it at 10/10th’s but I couldn’t, at least at my age
