In the 19 cars it's called AFM. Does the same a DOD. It sucks ass.

It sucks in the fact that AFM/DOD lifters are prone to failure before non AFM/DOD lifters. Additionally, if you use a AFM/DOD friendly cam you will be leaving power on the table. SO you then have to pull the heads in order to get to the lifters to replace them with stronger lifters while deleting the AFM/DOD which adds significantly more labor cost which "sucks a$$" because that takes money away from other mods.
