Your charging system cranks up during dfco and boosts your charging while off the gas pedal. I’ve seen issues with this, if u end up with battery issues keep that in mind because the correlation is not obvious

it can be fun sounding, although for best performance you want smooth flow of exhaust gases out of the exhaust manifold and I believe the crackling/burbling means you have turbulent pockets of high and low pressure exhaust, so, it's not something I would ever purposely change my timing to achieve.
