Oil Fill funnel for LT1, L86/3 and/or EcoTec Engines

When I had my 1LE at the dealer for its second free oil change, I noticed the tech that was performing the work had a particular funnel that screwed in place where the fill cap goes. I believe it had a bit of an angle to it to. He was able to screw the funnel in in place of the oil cap, start pouring in a bottle of M1 0w-40, and let the bottle sit in the funnel to finish draining. No mess, no fuss, and it worked like a charm. I didn't get the chance to ask him where he got the funnel. He appeared to be the only one using it at the time.

Does anyone know about this style of funnel or where I could pick one up? The ones I see online (like at Amazon) usually state that they dont fit the 5.3 Ecotec V8's (L83), which I would assume have the same oil fill caps & threads as the L86's and LT1's. If one that works for our LT1's would also work for the 2.5L N/A Ecotec or the 1.4L Turbo Ecotec (Trax), that would be a bonus too. Any ideas?

Thanks for sharing. Is this what you saw the tech using?

I use the top of a 2 liter bottle and then put a standard aluminum funnel nested inside it. The 2l stays put and holds the metal funnel at just the right angle.

Works perfectly.

Nice find. I'll have to give that a try. I use 5 quart oil containers, looks like the opening is a lot bigger than my current funnel so I should be able to pour the oil in more quickly.

That looks like it will work well with the angle of the fill cap on the LT1. My current filling solution is not as elegant. I think it's probably worth the $18.

Pretty damn close, if not it exactly. The top portion of the tech's funnel was blue. I'm not sure how well this funnel will work with a 5 qt jug, but it should hold 1 qt bottles with no problem.

I re-read all of the reviews of these and decided to try this one anyway. The MotivX people say they are working on an adapter to fix the angle issues on the 5.3 and 6.2 V8's. I ordered it this weekend and it should be here today. I'll try to snap a pic or two of it on my car this evening to see if 1. it fits, and 2. how bad the angle is.

Yes, there’s a bit of an angle issue... I slide different oil fill funnel inside and that modifies the angle for a smooth pour.

Mine is the same but the top is blue. Works great. Little bit of an angle issue with the 5qt jugs but you can pour the oil in pretty quickly.

This is the one I have and it works great. Haven't tried the 5qt jugs, but no issues with the 1qt's.

Some people must have a lot of disposable income, congratulations and God bless you all.
Personally I’ve been using the same $.99 automatic transmission funnel for the past 40 years and I’m happy with it.
